Tuesday 10th September 2013

With strong northerlies and heavy rain forecast limiting all birding to the Long Nab seawatching hut it wasn't too surprising that the sea produced plenty of birds.
On the move (south unless stated) were 17 Red-throated Diver + 1 north, 2139 Gannet, 12 Sooty Shearwater north, 1 Manx Shearwater + 7 north, 442 Fulmar north, 4 Cormorant + 4 north, 1 Wigeon, 65 Teal north, 2 Common Scoter + 28 north, 3 Velvet Scoter north, 4 Oystercatcher, 3 Golden Plover in, 4 Dunlin, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit north, 9 Snipe, 2 Curlew, 2 Ruff north, 83 Arctic Skua, 1 Pomarine Skua, 3 juvenile Long-tailed Skua, 9 Great Skua, 16 Black-headed Gull + 47 north, 5 Common Gull + 2 north, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 83 Kittiwake north, 17 Sandwich Tern + 2 north, 1 juvenile Roseate Tern north, 11 Common Tern + 2 north, 7 Arctic Tern + 7 north, 6 Commic Tern, 2 Auk sp + 85 north.
