Wednesday 14th - Friday 16th May 2014

The 14th produced a single Purple Sandpiper in the Harbour, a Little Ringed Plover was at Seamer Tip, 4 Wheatear were at Ravenscar and a Mandarin was on Rudda Road Flash while on the move (north unless stated) were 3 Fulmar + 7 south, 1 Manx Shearwater, 44 Gannet + 4 south, 2 Common Scoter south, 7 Oystercatcher, 1 Arctic Skua (first of the year), 17 Common Gull + 3 south, 113 Kittiwake, 8 Sandwich Tern, 1 Common Tern, 320 Auk sp, 7 Sand Martin south and 45 Swallow south.
The 15th was very quiet with no reports but the 16th at least produced a little more, a Hobby was seen at Staxton, a ringtail Hen Harrier flew south over Cayton Village and passing Long Nab (north unless stated) were 1 Fulmar, 1 Gannet, 2 Common Scoter, 1 Ringed Plover, 5 Black-headed Gull south, 3 Common Gull, 1 Great Black-backed Gull, 1 Sandwich Tern, 120 Auk sp + 30 south, 5 Swift + 6 south, 7 Sand Martin south, 4 Swallow + 53 south, 1 House Martin + 6 south, 2 Flava south and 4 Linnet + 6 south.
