Saturday 11th Jahuary

9 Ringed Plover were seen at Scalby Mills this morning, a Kingfisher was seen at the Open Air Theatre, and a Chiffchaff was in Cornelian Ravine. The Hooded Crow was seen again, with about 30 Carrion Crows, moving between Scalby Lodge Pond field and the field to the south of this. The hunt for Great Grey Shrikes in the forests returned a blank, though lots of Crossbills were around - 10 seen in Harwood Dale Forest, 7 in Sneaton Forest, and large numbers in Langdale Forest - as well as 200-300 Brambling in an area of beech in Dalby Forest. This afternoon 3 Snow Bunting were around dung heaps between Cromer Point pond and the water treatment works, 41 Curlew were at Scalby Lodge Pond, 1080 Wigeon were at Scalby Mills, and 3 Purple Sandpiper and 63 Redshank were on rocks opposite lamp post 25 in North Bay. A Great White Egret was still at Wykeham South Lake, and Pink-footed Geese were in fields behind Seamer Tip pool. A Dipper was seen at Hilla Green bridge.
