Tuesday 26th May

Early this morning a Reed Warbler was at Seamer Road Mere, and 6 Crossbills flew over Filey Road. A Quail was calling near Long Nab, where the Grasshopper Warbler was still singing. A Turtle Dove and a male Redstart were at North Moor nursery, and at Johnson's Marsh there were about 50 House Martins, 10 Sand Martins and 8 Swallows. On Fylingdales Moor, between the A169 and Lilla Cross, there were 3 Cuckoos, 2 Whinchats, 2 Stonechats, a Wheatear, 2 Golden Plover, a Snipe and 2 Grey Wagtails. A Cuckoo was also present at Wykeham South Lake this afternoon, and 3 pairs of Stonechats were at Eller Beck. Passing Long Nab this morning were: 7 Red-throated Divers (6 north, 1 south), 41 Manx Shearwaters (29 north, 12 south), 1505 Herring Gulls (1335 north, 170 south), a Great Skua (north), and 7210 auks.
