Sunday 14th February

A Long-tailed Duck flew south past Marine Drive early this morning, a Great Northern Diver was in the harbour, and 24 Purple Sandpipers were on the steps next to the lighthouse. At Seamer Tip and the adjacent carrs there were a Merlin, a Peregrine, 17 Snipe, a Jack Snipe, 16 Lapwings and a Buzzard. In the fields below Seamer Tip pool 4 Tundra Bean Geese, a White-fronted Goose, and a few Pink-footed and Barnacle Geese were among a goose flock (the Bean Geese being 2 fields west of the main group). 2 Lapland Buntings and 37 Woodcock were seen at Long Nab and another Woodcock was on the north side of Castle Hill. A second Great Northern Diver was in the harbour in the afternoon.
