Tuesday 9th November

2 Red-throated Divers (and at least one Harbour Porpoise) were seen off Marine Drive this morning. 12 Whooper Swans flew south over town while earier 6 had flown south over the sea. A Kingfisher was at the Open Air Theatre together with 10+ Long-tailed Tits, a Goldcrest and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. A drake Goosander was briefly on the sea in Cayton Bay, and 20+ Siskins flew south over Trafalgar Road. At Wykeham Lakes there were 5 Whooper Swans, 11 Mute Swans, 11 Wigeon, 182 Greylag Geese, 28 Canada Geese, 28 Mallard, 223 Teal, 25 Tufted Duck, 9 Goldeneye, 4 Little Grebes, 4 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Water Rails, 4 Jack Snipe, 133 Coot, 6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and Egyptian Geese with 4 young, while 4 Goosanders circled overhead. 150 Pink-footed Geese were in fields south-west of the lakes, while 2+ Bearded Tits were in the phragmites at the north-west corner of the water park. 100+ Pied Wagtails and 4 Twite were in the stubble field south of Scalby sewage farm. A Snow Bunting was in the stubble field at Long Nab, while passing by south were 18 Whooper Swans, 21 Pink-footed Geese, 1256 Siskins and a Lapland Bunting.
