Spring appears to be getting close with each passing day and today produced the first singing Chiffchaff back in Cayton.
The Black-throated Diver remained on Wykeham South Lake where there were 4 Egyptian Geese, 5 Oystercatcher and 2 Curlew, a Little Owl was seen along the track between the lake and West Ayton, 8 Whooper Swan were near Thornton le Dale, 4+ Goshawk were seen from the Wykeham Raptor viewpoint, a Razorbill was in North Bay and 200 Brambling were at Malton Core Farm.
On the move (south unless stated) were 32 Pink-footed Geese north, 11 Greylag Geese, 2 Barnacle Geese, 3 Lapwing, 17 Black-headed Gull, 1 Common Gull, 73 Herring Gull, 3 Great Black-backed Gull, 2 Alba, 34 Skylark, 3 Chaffinch north, 15 Linnet and 2 Siskin.
