Friday 7th May

3 Whimbrel and a Curlew were feeding on the pitch at the rugby club this morning, and 2 Great Northern Divers and a Mute Swan were off the harbour mouth. Johnson's Marsh was quiet with just a Grey Heron, 3 Moorhens, 2 Reed Buntings, a Yellowhammer, 6 Goldfinch, 2 Skylarks and 2 Foxes. A Turtle Dove was near the Mill Inn and 4 are now in Burniston. A female Ring Ouzel was just south of Cloughton Station, 2 Common Sandpipers were at Seamer Road Mere and 5 Wheatears, 2 White Wagtails and a Yellow Wagtail were at Folkton. 6 Stock Doves were seen in Cloughton, and at Hilla Green the Pied Flycatcher is still present and 2 Goshawks flew over. There were Coot broods at Taylor Way pool (5 chicks) and Seamer Tip pool (4 chicks). A Hobby, a Whimbrel and 2 Swifts flew over the Folkton sewage works area, and at Harwood Dale Lake there were 14 Fieldfares. An Egyptian Goose, 3 Common Sandpipers, 2 Swifts and a White Wagtail were at Wykeham Lakes. 2 Swifts over Old Town this evening. In the Flixton/Folkton/Flotmanby/Cayton Carr area 10 Wheatears, 5 Yellow Wagtails, White Wagtail, 14 Pied Wagtails, 5 Swifts, Peregrine and 2 Grey Partridge. 5 Lapwing pairs on territory (one pair confirmed breeding). A Whinchat was seen at Gristhorpe Cliff and a Cuckoo was at Jugger Howe this evening.
