Sunday 19th June
A Little Egret was at Johnson's Marsh early morning and a singing Quail was in a field on the south side of Rocks Lane west of Cliff Top House, Long Nab. Three Turtle Doves and a total of four Yellow Wagtails aloing with 70 Linnets were north of Snainton. A Cuckoo flew south over the Castle Grounds early afternoon and a Little Owl was noted on Great Moor Road, Hutton Buscel. A total of 1,897 apparently occupied Kittiwakes nests were counted on Castle Headland today and a total 0f 13 apparently occupied Fulmar nests were also recorded. These 2022 annual counts for both species are very similar to those recorded last year. Two Nightjars, two Woodcock and a Tawny Owl were noted at Wykeham Forest this evening and two Nightjars, two Woodcock and two Tree Pipits were in forestry opposite THe Falcon Inn.
