Thursday 16th November

 A Woodcock on Oliver's Mount race track this morning. Two Great Northern Divers (adult and juvenile) in South Bay just off the lighthouse. A Black Redstart on rock armour behind Toll House on Marine Drive and two Stonechat were on rock armour opposite lamp posts 54 and 58 on Marine Drive. 120 Pink-footed Geese flew north past Marine Drive and seven Shags were on the sea. Two Mealy Redpoll flew south after leaving Castle Hill. A Kingfisher was at the south end of the inner harbour. At North Yorkshire Water Park this morning; a female Common Scoter, seven Goldeneye, two Gadwall, four Great Crested Grebes, six Little Grebes and an Egyptian Goose. Two Hawfinches flew over heading west. 61 Waxwings were in trees at Willymath Close, Burniston and 11+ mobile Waxwings were in Cayton. In a field off the A64 opposite Stockdales, there were between 500 and 600 Pink-footed Geese and a Bar-headed Goose of unknown origin within the feral goose flocks.

NB. Following further enquiries and research, the reported possible Kumlein's Gull in Scarborough Harbour yesterday has been identified as a pale variant of Northern Herring Gull.
