Two Spoonbills at Potter Brompton Carr from mid-morning, left NE towards NY Water Park at 19.20 hrs. Also 3 Little Egrets, Cuckoo there. Two singing Turtle Doves in Dalby Forest, also a Cuckoo. Water Rail at NY Water Park. A Black-throated Diver in breeding plumage flew north past Long Nab. Three Spotted Flycatchers at Hilla Green. 60+ Crossbills at Harwood Dale Forest. Cuckoo, Redstart, 10 Crossbills, 5 Tree Pipits in Langdale Forest. Spotted Flycatcher, Redstart and Nuthatch at Bridstones, Dalby Forest.

 Two Garganey, Egyptian Goose and a Little Egret at Potter Brompton Carr. A Greenshank at Scalby Lodge Pond left north.  Four Turtle Doves at Malton Cote. Three Goosanders in Burniston Bay. A Hobby flew east over Crossgates. A Nightjar churring at Harwood Dale Forest at 18.50 hrs. At Scampston Park Lake; 7 Heron nests with well grown juvs present. A pair of Mute Swans with 6 cygnets.

 The Temminck's Stint was again at Lebberston Flash, still present at 18.30 hrs. Also 3 Redshank there, and a Hobby drifted west.  A Quail was calling at Potter Brompton Carr, a pair of Garganey and 3 Little Egrets. South at Long Nab were Hooded Crow, 5 Little Egrets, and a Marsh Harrier. North past were Golden Plover, 2 Turnstone, and 4 Ringed Plovers.  A Cetti's Warbler at Burton Riggs, a Herring Gull nesting on the island there. A Wood Sandpiper, and Common Sandpiper at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park.

 A Temminck's Stint at Lebberston Flash this evening with 2 Ringed Plovers. A male Hen Harrier flew west near Wykeham Forest Raptor Viewpoint at 10am. A Hobby flew west over Burniston village A Whinchat at Jugger Howe Moor, plus one (male) at Castle Hill.  A migrant Sedge Warbler at Cloughton Wyke. Two drake Mandarins, Shelduck, and a Shoveler at Potter Brompton Carr.

 A Wood Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Ringed Plover, Short-eared Owl, 6 Swifts, 4 Yellow Wagtails, and 5 Reed Warblers at Potter Brompton Carr. Red Kites were seen at Ellerburn and Allerston. An immature White-tailed Eagle was around Ravenscar 11.15-11.45 before moving off north (believed to be from the Isle of Wight reintroduction scheme). 17 Sandwich Terns were on rocks in North Bay. Collared Dove reports included 6 at East Ayton, 4 at East Knapton, and 2 singing birds in Harwood Dale village. A Turtle Dove back on territory in Burniston. A Barnacle Goose in South Bay this morning left north with 6 Mute Swans. A Garden Warbler at Holbeck, 2 at Silpho-Suffield Moor, 3 at Surgate Brow. 3 singing Redstarts in Broxa Forest, Willow Tits at two locations there; a singing bird plus a pair. A pair of Little Grebes + 4 chicks on Match Lake, NY Water Park. The Little Ringed Plover still on East Lake. The first churring Nightjar was at Givendale, Dalby Forest, also 2 roding Woodcocks. A pair of Lapwing with 2 chicks near Low Marishes, also Yellow Wagtail, 20 Yellowhammers.

 A Greenshank flew east over Middle Deepdale early morning. Cuckoos at Eller Beck, Sneaton High Moor (2), and Jugger Howe Moor. Four Willow Tits in Wykeham Forest. Single Turtle Dove at Snever Dale and Sieve Dale, Dalby Forest. 30+ Crossbills at Sieve Dale incl quite a few juveniles. Three Tree Pipits at Jingleby Thorn, Dalby. 49 Crossbill (31 juvs), 6 Tree Pipits, 12 Siskins at Sneaton High Moor. A Little Egret flew south past Long Nab, Whimbrel on rocks below the obs. A Spotted Flycatcher at Turkey Carpet, Broxa Forest. Singing Whinchat at RAF Fylingdales.

 A Hooded Crow was feeding with Rooks at Long Nab, also a Grasshopper Warbler still at Crook Ness. Spotted Flycatchers were seen at Cloughton Woods and Turkey Carpet, Broxa Forest. The pair of Garganey were still at Potter Brompton Carr, also 2 Little Egrets, 2 Yellow Wagtails. 15 Swifts over Stepney Road. A Little Ringed Plover and male Yellow Wagtail at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park, a Collared Dove on the entrance road. Five Sandwich Terns in North Bay, 40 passed Long Nab.

 Highlights moving south at Long Nab this morning were a Fieldfare, Tree Pipit, Jay, 135 Carrion Crows and a Corn Bunting. A White Wagtail was at Cromer Point, where a Little Egret also flew south. Nine active Sand Martin nests in Cayton Bay. A Quail was calling near Folkton, also 5 Yellow Wagtails, Kingfisher, and Tawny Owl there. A Common Sandpiper at Burton Riggs.

 A Green Sandpiper was at Johnson's Marsh. Two Grasshopper Warblers and an Eider at Long Nab. A Little Grebe feeding a chick at Ganton Golf Course, also a Green Woodpecker. A Little Ringed Plover at North Yorkshire Water Park, two male Yellow Wagtails in fields to the east of east Lake.  A Quail could be heard calling from Straits Lane south of the lakes, also 5 Shelducks on pools there. Three Little Egrets at Potter Brompton Carr. A Hooded Crow was at the golf course at Ravenscar. A pair of Mute Swans with 6 cygnets at Taylor Way pool, also 4 Coot chicks there. A Red Kite drifted west at Troutsdale, another south over Seamer. Two singing Turtle Doves in Harwood Dale Forest.

 The drake Garganey was still at Potter Brompton Carr, seen in flight only. A Turnstone was on East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park, also Little Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, 4 Lbb Gulls, a lesser Whitethroat (WSL), and 80 Sand Martins. A Common Sandpiper also at Brompton Ponds. Increasing numbers of Swifts arriving, 7 over Red Scar Lane, widespread in town. In Dalby Forest; 3 Tree Pipits, 3 Willow Tits at Sand Dale. Two Tree Pipits, Willow Tit at Housedale. A Turtle Dove, Tree Pipit at Snetherdale.

 A Hooded Crow flew north past Yons Nab, Gristhorpe Bay @ 08.47. Swifts were more evident today; 3 over Dean Road, 2 over Peasholm, 4 over Whin Bank, and 2 over Gordon Street. Up to 6 Turtle Doves in Broxa Forest (5 males), plus a singing bird at the Wykeham Forest Raptor Viewpoint. A singing Willow Tit below the viewpoint. At North Yorkshire Water Park: 2 Pochard, 22 Tufted Duck, Little Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper, 6 Garden Warblers, 15+ Sedge Warblers, 60 Sand martins, 2 House Martins. A Cuckoo at Derwent Head, Langdale Forest, plus 2 at Stony Marl Moor. A drumming Snipe at Jugger Howe Moor. A Hobby flew west over Cayton Carr, where 5 Whimbrel were still present. Two singing Corn Buntings at Binnington Carr. Two Whimbrel at Jackson's Bay plus 4 flew south. A Sedge Warbler at Cromer Point pond. A Tree Sparrow at Cross Lane/Westfield Ave junction.

 A Spoonbill flew north at Long Nab, also a cc Marsh Harrier north, and 5 Whimbrel past. A Ring Ouzel at South Cliff, 4 Swifts over The Esplanade. A Sedge Warbler at Osgodby, also one at Hayburn Wyke, 3 at Sherburn Carrs, and 5 at Seamer tip pool. A singing male Whinchat at RAF Fylingdales, also 3 Wheatears. The Oystercatcher pair at Burton Riggs have a well grown chick, plus the Cetti's Warbler still present, and a Sedge Warbler. A Hobby flew north over Gristhorpe, a cc Marsh Harrier over Crossgates. Three Dunlin, LRP, 2 Gadwall at NY Water Park, a Tree Sparrow along Long Causeway Rd. Six Whimbrel at Cayton Carr.

Some interesting wader movement at Long Nab, past north were 20 Whimbrel, 51 Turnstone, and 60 Redshank. Also north were an Arctic Skua, Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Goosanders, and a Hooded Crow (first reported flying north at South Cliff). Two Wheatears in the fields, and a Swift flew south. A Short-eared Owl, and Marsh Harrier flew north through South Cliff. The Cetti's Warbler was still at Gristhorpe Bay, also 3 Wheatears, and a Marsh Harrier. At Cayton Carr; Short-eared Owl, 3 Whimbrel, and a Yellow Wagtail. Two Spoonbills flew north over Old Town @ 19.42, later seen going NW over Burniston, but then returned southwards. At Potter Brompton Carr: Great White Egret, 6 Little Egrets, 3 Snipe, 2 calling Water Rails, Whimbrel (east), Swift, 8 Yellow Wagtails, and 2 Lesser Whitethroats. A Turtle Dove in a garden at Suffield.

 A Hooded Crow flew south at Long Nab late morning. Migrants there included a female Ring Ouzel at Pipe Gully, a male Pied Flycatcher at the ringing plantation, male Whinchat at the cover crop hedge, also 2 Wheatears and 17 Whitethroats. A Tree Pipit at Cornelian Bay, Willow Tit still present there. Six Whimbrel and 10 Curlews at Cayton Carr. At North Yorkshire Water Park, a Little Ringed Plover and Common Sandpiper at East Lake, also 4 Reed Warblers. The pair of Garganey were still at Potter Brompton Carr, also 3 Shoveler, 3 Shelduck, 3 Little Egrets, a Great White Egret, and 7 Sedge Warblers. A Common Sandpiper at Johnson's Marsh. In the May Beck area; Cuckoo, 3 male Redstarts, Tree Pipit, male Whinchat, and Green Woodpecker.

 A Cetti's Warbler was found at Gristhorpe Bay this evening. Three broods of Greylag Geese and a pair of Gadwall at Seamer tip pool. Lesser Whitethroat Hopper Hill Road, plus one by the tip motocycle track. Another Lesser Whitethroat at the Cinder Track near Burniston. A breeding bird survey at Jugger Howe/Stony Marl Moors; Raven, 20 Skylarks, 3 Curlews, 4 Wheatears, and 7 Willow Warblers. Canada Geese with 12 young at Seamer Road Mere, also a Water Rail there. Two Turtle Doves near Newclose Rigg, Dalby Forest. Sutherbuff and Fainsey Riggs produced a Garden Warbler, 6 Blackcaps, 7 Chiffchaffs, and 4 Willow Warblers.

 No sign of the Cranes this morning. Two Little Egrets, and a drake Shoveler at Potter Brompton Carr. A Raven U-turned south at Castle Hill. Three Little Ringed Plovers at East Lake, NY Water Park, also 5 Garden Warblers around the site. A Dark-bellied Brent Goose was in Cornelian Bay then left north. Two Common Sandpipers and a Wheatear in South Bay. A Tree Pipit near the WRVP car park. A Hobby flew north over Newby. Three Swifts over Dalby Forest.

 The three Common Cranes were seen early morning at Potter Brompton Carr, later moving to Sherburn Ings. A Short-eared Owl flew in off the sea at Castle Hill and carried on SW. Three Whimbrel flew north there. A Raven over Fylingdales Moor. Seven Wheatears at Long Nab. At Northstile, Wrench Green 3 Tree Pipits, and a Garden Warbler. A Common Sandpiper and Sedge Warbler at Burton Riggs. Four House Martins back in Burniston. A Corn Bunting flew south at South Cliff, 2 Wheatears flew NW. A Common Sandpiper at Black Rocks. Garden Warbler in Cornelian Ravine. At NY Water Park; 20+ Blackcaps, 10 Sedge Warblers, 2 Reed Warblers, one Garden Warbler. A Little Tern was in North Bay in the evening. A Cetti's Warbler along the cliffs at Gristhorpe Bay.

 Three Common Cranes were seen well inland from Castle Hill late morning, were near Hackness early afternoon, then later over Potter Brompton Carr, where they had settled at 7.30pm. An arrival of Wheatears, 21 at Castle Hill and six at South Cliff. Also at Potter Brompton Carr today were a Wood Sandpiper, Little Ringed Plover, Black-tailed Godwit, Greenshank (left west), Swift, Goosander, 2 Shoveler, 9 Gadwall, and 75 Sand Martins. North Yorkshire Water Park had 2 Garden Warblers, Reed Warbler and 2 Swifts. Long Nab saw a Red Kite, 2 Whimbrel, Goosander south. A Cuckoo at the car park at Saltergate. Some decent movements past South Cliff this morning including a male Blue-headed Wagtail south, 148 Carrion Crows, and a Hooded Crow north. A moulting adult Great Northern Diver in Cornelian Bay. A Common Sandpiper at Burton Riggs.

 A seawatch at Marine Drive produced a female Scaup, 16 Tufted Ducks, 2 Eiders, 2 Turnstones, 2 Purple Sandpipers, an Arctic Tern, Common/Arctic Tern, and 2 Puffins. Cetti's Warbler still at Burton Riggs. A drake Eider at Scalby Mills. A Swift flew south at Long Nab. Potter Brompton Carr produced 9 Teal, 2 Shoveler, Curlew, a Short-eared Owl, 2 Swifts, and 3 Yellow Wagtails.

 At the Castle Headland a female Hawfinch was seen and photographed at St Mary's Church. An influx of Ring Ouzels with a female in North Bay, and three ( two males and a female) at Yons Nab, Gristhorpe Bay. Three Whimbrel and a Wheatear at the latter site. Single Wheatears also at Long Nab, Darrell's Low Farm, and Thornton le Dale, plus two at Castle Hill, where there were four Lesser Whitethroats, and 109 Carrion Crows and a Sanderling flew north.  A Hobby was seen over Scalby Mills mid-afternoon. 32 Mute Swans near NY Water Park. A Swift flew north over town. Three Willow Tits, 8 Tree Pipits, 4 Crossbills at Newclose Rigg, Dalby Forest. A male Redstart at Bridestones. The pair of Garganey still present at Potter Brompton Carr (not visible from Haybridge), also there Little Ringed Plover, Dunlin, Golden Plover, 7 Snipe, 4 Little Egrets, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 2 Whitethroats, 3 Reed and 5 Sedge Warblers, single Yellow and White Wagtails. The first Lapwing broods seen and 3 broods of Mallard.

 A Raven, Ring Ouzel, and 4 Stonechats at Saltergate. A female Long-tailed Duck feeding off Marine Drive this morning, also an adult Great Northern Diver, a cream crown Marsh Harrier flew south at sea there this afternoon, plus a Whimbrel north.  Movement past Marine Drive also included 33 Common Scoter, a Puffin, 8 Manx Shearwaters, and a Great Skua. A Sedge Warbler at NY Water Park behind the Zip-line tower. A pair of Little Grebes with 3 recently hatched young at Newlands Dale pond. A Grasshopper Warbler at Pipe Gully, Long Nab, 2 Wheatears nearby. Two Bramblings Wrench Green. A Raven, 2 Redstarts, 4 Tree Pipits, 10 Crossbills Langdale Forest.

 Highlights from seawatching today (Long Nab and Marine Drive): 266 Fulmars,  3 Manx Shearwaters, 2 Pintail, Great Northern Diver, Whimbrel, Bar-tailed Godwit, 3 Turnstone. An acredula type Willow Warbler at Long Nab, also 6 White Wagtails, and a Wheatear. A Green Sandpiper at East Lake, NY Water Park, 3 Whitethroats singing along the eastern bank of the Watersports Lake. Potter Brompton Carr had 2 White and a Yellow Wagtail, 26 Teal, Shoveler, and Marsh Harrier. A pair of Mandarins, Willow Tit, and Cetti's Warbler at Burton Riggs. Lesser Whitethroat at Seamer Mead. A Little Egret at Thornton Carrs. Brambling, and 20+ Siskin in Crossgates.

 Migrants along the coast included 4 Wheatears, White Wagtail, Whitethroat at South Cliff, Wheatear and 4 White Wagtails at Long Nab, 2 Wheatears at Cayton Bay, and 2 Wheatears at Castle Hill. A Willow Tit in Cornelian Ravine. Ducks were on the move in the rain, past Long Nab were 20 Teal, 4 Wigeon, 7 Eiders, a Tufted Duck, and 54 Common Scoters. A Whimbrel near Crook Ness left north early morning. Two Wheatears, and a Dipper near RAF Fylingdales. Lesser Whitethroats at Seamer tip and Johnson's Marsh. 14 Common Scoter, 3 Shags in South Bay. Broods of 7+1 Greylag Geese at Burton Riggs, also 15 Tufted Ducks. The drake Garganey still at Potter Brompton Carr, also 3 Little Egrets, 2 Marsh Harriers, 3 Snipe, Yellow Wagtail, 70 Sand Martins, 19 Swallows, 5 House Martins. North Yorkshire Water Park saw a Little Ringed Plover fly south, Shelduck, and 110 Sand Martins.

 A Cetti's Warbler again at Burton Riggs along with six Sand Martins and a Garden Warbler. A Lesser Whitethroat near Taylor Way and four Siskin still visiting a Crossgates garden.. Barn Owl above Cayton Bay. A singing Common Whitethroat and two Snipe at Long Nab scrape. Two Manx Shearwater, five Curlew and a Snipe flew north. At Castle Hill this morning: a singing Grasshopper Warbler. and White Wagtail  on the grassland. Two Willow Warbler, 17 Blackcap, Garden Warbler, Lesser Whitethroat and Redwing present. At Scampston Park: eight apparently active Heron Nests, three Little Egret, four Nuthatch, four Blackcap and six Chiffchaff. Two Grey Partridges alongside the A170 at Betton Farm, East Ayton. Lingering offshore this evening off Marine Drive were a 2nd calendar year Little Gull, 2nd calendar year Mediterranean Gull, 20 2nd calendar year Common Gull and a Sandwich Tern. 24 Common Scoter and a Red-throated Diver off South Bay. At North Yorkshire Water Park: three broods of Greylag Goslings, 3+4+5, two Teal, one Snipe, two House Martin and a Reed Warbler. Tawny Owl calling on Gordon Street late evening.

 A Lesser Whitethroat at Browns Park, Cayton Bay this morning. 13 Chiffchaff, seven Blackcap and three Willow Warbler at Wykeham and Ruston Millennium Wood. At Potter Brompton Carr from Haybridge this morning: three Little Egret, four Teal, two Shelduck, three Mute Swan, one Marsh Harrier. In the hedgerow and at the feeders there; three Brambling, two Reed Bunting, one Willow Warbler and two Chiffchaff. A Garden Warbler new at Castle Hill and Great Northern Diver in South Bay. Male Common Redstarts were at May Beck and Scar/Castlebeck Woods, also Green Woodpecker present and Raven over at the latter site.

 A Cetti's Warbler again at Burton Riggs this morning along with the first spring Garden Warbler, Goosander and two Willow Tit. Two White Wagtails at Long Nab and four Manx Shearwater, Great Skua and 11 Sandwich Tern north past there. 110 Sand Martin, 10 House Martin and Swallow at North Yorkshire Water Park Sports Lake. At Potter Brompton Carr (whole site): Pair of Garganey, seven White Wagtail, two Yellow Wagtail, eight Snipe, two Little Egret, Marsh Harrier, 10 Gadwall, seven Shoveler, Shelduck and 65 Goldfinch. A male Common Redstart this morning just south of Spa Bridge and two Shelduck at High Marishes. Four Yellow Wagtail at Potter Brompton Carr from Haybridge this evening.

 A Common Crane circled Gristhorpe Bay about a half mile out at sea before moving steadily north. It was then seen from Long Nab moving north through North Bay following the cliff line over Scalby Nab and then continuing north over Long Nab. Six White Wagtails were in fields north of Long Nab Obs and another White Wagtail was at Johnson's Marsh along with five Shelduck, a Teal and an incubating Coot. A Tree Pipit was at Wrench Green and four Goosander flew north past Marine Drive. At Potter Brompton Carr (viewed from Haybridge): three White Wagtail, one Yellow Wagtail, nine House Martin, two Little Egret, Marsh Harrier and four Teal. At North Yorkshire Water Park Water Sports Lake: a calling Greenshank flew in from the east over the lake and continued south. Approximately 60 Sand Martin, 12 House Martin and a Reed Warbler present.  Blackcap pairs were in gardens in Burniston and Stepney. Pair Bullfinch in a Burniston garden with Siskin pairs noted in two gardens there.

 North past Marine Drive today: Two Shoveler, two Teal, one Tufted Duck, one Eider, one Goldeneye, two Turnstone, 2,108 Kittiwake, two Mediterranean Gull (adult + 2cy, five Lesser Black-backed Gull, seven Sandwich Tern, 356 Fulmar, four Manx Shearwater, 119 Gannet, two Shag, five Red throated Diver and a Great Northern Diver. South past Marine Drive: two Eider, one Velvet Scoter, 34 Common Scoter, a drake Long-tailed Duck, four Sandwich Tern and a Puffin. Offshore were four Eider, 720 Kittiwake, 45 Fulmar, two Red throated Diver and a Great Northern Diver. A Redwing, male Wheatear and two Siskin at Castle headland. Two Manx Shearwater north and four Sandwich Tern south at Long Nab. Six Wheatear in mast field, Ravenscar and three Curlew nearby. Eight Waxwings on Limestone Road, Burniston this afternoon. Six Short-eared Owls Cayton/Folkton Carrs.

A Short-eared Owl at Long Nab scrape this morning. Three Sandwich Terns feeding in North Bay. Highlights from North Yorkshire Water Park: 30+ Sand Martin, 20+ House Martin, 8+ Swallows, 10 Blackcap, Curlew, 30+ Willow Warbler and Reed Warbler. A Raven flew east over Helwath Wood.

 15 Whooper Swans over RAF Staxton this morning headed towards the coast and were later in Cayton Bay. Two Marsh harriers arrived in off there and flew west towards the Carrs. Cetti's Warbler and Lesser Whitethroat present. A Woodlark flew south west from over Castle Hill. Two Ring Ouzels, eight Wheatear (including one Greenland type) and four pair of Curlew were in the Stoupe Brow area. A Yellow Wagtail and Raven at Ravenscar. Two Tree pipit in Harwood Dale Forest and a male Common Redstart at Scar Wood. A Lesser Whitethroat at side of Morrisons and two Common Whitethroat by the motor cycle track at Seamer Tip. Two Bullfinch, Common Whitethroat and male Blackcap were the highlights at top of Scalby Mills steps. At North Yorkshire Water Park: two Common Scoter, Goldeneye, Reed Warbler, two Swallow, 18 Sand Martin, two House Martin and Willow Tit. Little Ringed Plover on East Lake. A Great Northern Diver in South Bay and a Lesser Whitethroat and male Wheatear were new on the Castle grassland. 11 Swallow and three House Martin flew north there and flying generally south were a Wheatear, three Yellow Wagtail, three White Wagtail, eight Alba Wagtail, a Tree Pipit and 76 Siskin. Five Shelduck and three Common Buzzard at Johnson's Marsh this morning, three House Martin over Crossgates and Little Owl at Hutton Buscel. At Potter Brompton Carr from Haybridge: Marsh Harrier, three Little Egret, pair of Shoveler, Shelduck and two Yellow Wagtail.

 Cetti's Warblers today were at Burton Riggs (2), Seamer Tip Pool (1) and North Yorkshire Water Park (1). Other highlights from the Water Park complex included a Reed Warbler in the north west corner of the Water Sports Lake, two Common Sandpiper, a female Common Scoter, two Shoveler, two Goldeneye, one Teal, 36 Mute Swans across the complex, (34 Water Sports Lake, two East Lake) and two Lesser Black-backed Gulls. A Little Owl again at Great Moor Road, Hutton Buscel. Four Wheatear and three Curlew at Ravenscar and a Wheatear on the rock armour on Marine Drive. A Great Northern Diver at the Outer Harbour this morning. A Yellow Wagtail and Crossbill south at South Cliff and a Tree Pipit, 200 Meadow Pipit north and a Common Whitethroat present. At Potter Brompton Carr from Haybridge today; One Little Egret  Marsh Harrier, redhead Goosander, three Shoveler and two Gadwall. Willow Warblers, Chiffchaff, Blackcaps and hirundines now in abundance. A Yellow Wagtail over Crossgates and six Siskin in a Heron Lane garden, Crossgates. A ringtail Harrier sp. flew west over Cayton Carr at 1830hrs.

 A Woodlark flew south at 0825hrs at South Cliff. North past South Cliff were a Tree Pipit, White Wagtail and 129 Meadow Pipits. A Wheatear was on Holbeck Rocks and a Cetti's Warbler was at Burton Riggs. A Common Whitethroat was at the motor cycle track at Seamer Tip. A Wheatear was on the rock armour at Marine Drive. 20 Mute Swans were at the North Yorkshire Water Park complex along with a total of three Goldeneye, four Great crested Grebe and a Sedge Warbler. Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff and Blackcap now abundant in the recording area. A Short-eared Owl, four Common Buzzard and three Jay moved south over Castle Hill. 18 Black-tailed Godwit and 104 Meadow Pipit generally north there. Three Wheatear, a male Stonechat and a Red-legged partridge on the Castle grassland. A second calendar year Yellow-legged Gull, Sandwich Tern, Shag and Great Northern Diver in South Bay.

A female type Black Redstart briefly on the Castle grassland fence line late morning.  South at Castle Hill were two Swallow, one Yellow Wagtail, two White Wagtail briefly on grassland, two Bullfinch, 60 Siskin and a Corn Bunting. A Great Northern Diver in the Harbour. A Cetti's Warbler singing on Cleveland Way clifftop above Cayton Bay200 metres north of the old water works building and a Raven over north. A Lesser Whitethroat singing on lane near to Whitecroft pumping station and three Jays near Ox Pasture. Pair of Peregrine again on Castle headland and two well grown Moorhen chicks at Burton Riggs. A drake Common Scoter, female Goosander, three Goldeneye, 12 Sand Martin and two Mistle Thrush were the highlights at North Yorkshire Water Park Water Sports Lake. Coastal vismig highlights at South Cliff this morning: Tree Pipit, Yellow Wagtail, Brambling, 15 Sand Martin, five Swallow, single House Martin, 159 Linnet, 90 Siskin and 104 Goldfinch all south.  A flock of 58 Pink-footed Geese flew north.

 A Lesser Whitethroat at Castle Hill this morning, also five Willow Warbler, 20 Chiffchaff, 13 Blackcap, four Goldcrest and a Wheatear. At Potter Brompton Carr today: One Great Egret, four Little Egret, one Marsh Harrier, 15 Gadwall, three Shoveler, 30 Teal, eight Brambling and all three Hirundines. At Dalby Haygate this morning: Red Kite, 15 Chiffchaff, five Willow Warbler, four Blackcap, and two Mistle Thrush. Four Common Buzzard and three Goshawk over the wider forest area. Two Ring Ouzel and two Wheatear at Gristhorpe Bay early morning.

 An arrival of Willow Warblers across the area. 24 at the Water Sports Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park, eight at Wrench Green and nine at Castle Hill. Also at Castle Hill: Tree Pipit south, female type Ring Ouzel left west from grassland, 15 Blackcap, 23 a (13+ new), one Redwing, five Wheatear and a Brambling. Great Northern Diver again in the Harbour and a minimum of 2,575 Kittiwakes off Marine Drive (1,875) and South Bay/Town (700). Also at North Yorkshire Water Park: Four Teal, two Pochard,30 Chiffchaff, 27 Willow Warbler,12 Blackcap, two Curlew, two Common Sandpiper, four Swallow, six House Martin and two Wheatear. Six Lesser Black-backed Gull and Goldeneye on East Lake. Three Goosander on Predator Lake. A Common Whitethroat at the motor cycle track, Seamer Tip and a Cetti's Warbler, two Pochard and abundant numbers of Willow Warbler and Blackcap at Seamer Tip Pool. Three Common Buzzard over Oliver's Mount, two Yellowhammer in a Ravenscar garden and a Common Redpoll in a Cayton garden. A Little Owl again at Hutton Buscel. Three Mandarin at Hackness Lake. A White Wagtail at the southern watchpoint at Long Nab and a Wheatear behind the Obs. 60 Siskin mid afternoon in Heron Lane and adjacent park, Crossgates. A Siberian Chiffchaff was at the willow clump north side of Castle Hill moving north at base of cliff late afternoon.

 A Cetti's Warbler singing this morning between the toilets and the White House at Cayton Bay. Blackcaps today at Castle Hill (5), South Cliff (4), Burniston (2) and Peasholm Glen (1). An adult male Hen Harrier flew west along the railway at Potter Brompton Carr and two male Ring Ouzel flew north. On the whole site were Sedge Warbler, Yellow Wagtail, 14 House Martin, 10 Swallow, eight Sand Martin, five Willow Warbler, 22 Brambling, Great Egret, three Little Egret, two Marsh Harrier, 22 Teal, nine Curlew and nine Common Snipe. 24 Golden Plover flew towards Binnington Carr. At South Cliff today; 10 Wheatear (5 Golf Course, 5 Holbeck rock armour), three White Wagtail, (2 Holbeck Rock Armour, 1 Cornelian), three Willow Warbler and 14 Chiffchaff. A Short-eared Owl, two Grey Partridge, three Common Snipe, three Purple Sandpiper and two Common Scoter were at Cornelian. Siskins continued to move widely with 30 in Crossgates. Approximately 25 Sand Martins were at Jackson's Bay. A Whimbrel flew north at Castle Hill this morning and two House Martin and 52 Siskin flew south. New birds in were six Wheatear, one Yellow Wagtail and a White Wagtail. The Great Northern Diver was in the harbour and 1,800 Kittiwake were in South Bay along with a Common Scoter. A Mediterranean Gull was heard. Swallows and Sand Martins were widespread in small numbers. Four Curlew and 12 Meadow Pipit at Stoupe Brow. 2 Shelduck and 15 Common Scoter flew south past Long Nab. Two Sparrowhawks over Dean Road. Apparently active nests at the following Rookeries noted this afternoon: Harwood Dale (62), Hackness (34), Lindhead/ Ripley's Road (13) and Suffield (8). Dipper on the  river at Hackness. At North Yorkshire Water Park: Female Common Scoter, four Goldeneye and a Common Snipe on East Lake. A Goldeneye and a pair of Goosander on the Water Sports Lake. 12 singing Willow Warblers at the complex.

 At Potter Brompton Carr this morning: five Little Egret, two Marsh Harrier, one Sparrowhawk, one Mute Swan, two Canada Geese, two Greylag Geese, nine Teal, six Mallard and nine Lapwing. Swallows and Sand Martins moving through generally. Three Whooper Swan and Kingfisher at Low Marishes. Cetti's Warbler again at Burton Riggs and two Willow Warblers at Taylor Way.14 Tufted Duck, two Shoveler and six Gadwall at Seamer Tip Pool. A Red Kite was over Fields Farm, Long Nab. Two female type Common Scoter, a drake Goosander, two Goldeneye, 50+ Sand Martin, six Swallow and a House Martin at the Water Sports |Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park. A Sedge Warbler in scrub southwest of Oasis Café, 11 Sand Martin and five Swallow over North Bay and three Swallow at Sea Life Centre. Redwing and six Goldcrest on Castle Hill. A Peregrine with Water Rail prey on Castle headland. A Tawny Owl calling Stepney Road evening time.

 A Black Redstart again today at Gibson's Court, Queens Parade. 30 plus Redwing briefly in a Burniston garden and a dead Golden Plover outside the Grand Hotel.. Four Lesser Black-backed Gull, four Great crested Grebe, three Goldeneye and five Chiffchaff at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park.  Two singing Willow Warbler, Green Woodpecker, and three Blackcap at Sand Dale, Dalby. A female Ring Ouzel along the under cliffs at South Cliff flew NW. Highlights south through South Cliff; two Yellow Wagtail, two House Martin, 11 Swallow (2N), 179 Siskin and 234 Linnet. A Wheatear on the golf course and two Willow Warbler at Holbeck. Two Swallow south over the Castle. Also two male Wheatear, two Yellow Wagtail on Castle Tops (English Heritage site) and two Sand Martin south over Marine Drive. Two Swallow, one Sand Martin and 15 Siskin at Heron Lane, Crossgates. A male Wheatear at Scalby Nab and Willow Warbler at Scalby Beck. 14 Sand Martin were around Jackson's Bay and four Swallow flew south. Apparently active nests at the following Rookeries this morning: Merry Leas (139), Spital roadside and roundabout (42), Flixton (43), Folkton (29), Seamer (33), Hutton Buscel (32), Yedingham (35 and 40), Brompton (8), Crossgates (9) and East Ayton (27, 26 and 17). A Merlin was near Burniston.

 Two Ravens flew south over town, one over Morrisons not long afterwards. A Red Kite flew south inland of Long Nab, then high over Castle Hill. Two Willow Warblers, 3 Blackcaps, 4 Goldcrests at Castle Hill. 100+ Curlews at Cayton Carrs, plus 2 Little Egrets. Two Red Kites at Scampston. Two Corn Buntings south of Yedingham. Four Gadwall Seamer Rd Mere. At Potter Brompton Carr; 4 Little Egrets, 2 Shoveler, 46 Teal, 8 Curlew, 2 Marsh Harriers, 2 Lbb Gulls, a Willow Warbler and 4 Brambling. A Wheatear at RAF Fylingdales, also 2 Red Grouse. The first House Martin of the year at North Yorkshire Water Park, also 6 Whooper Swans, Goosander, 7 Goldeneye, Swallow, 86 Sand Martins, and the Red-throated Diver. 60 Siskins in Crossgates. 4 Shags off Marine Drive.  A pair of Coot with chicks at Seamer Rd Mere.

 A Long-eared Owl was seen briefly at Castle Hill this morning, but could not be relocated. Other migrants there were a Woodcock, Willow Warbler, 4 Blackcaps, 2 Redwing, and 2 Brambling. The Great Northern Diver, and Dunlin still at the harbour. 21 Fieldfares grounded in the rain at Long Nab. An adult Little Gull at North Yorkshire Water Park, on the Water Sports Lake and later East Lake. Also there Red-throated Diver, 6 Whooper Swans (East Lake), 7 Goldeneye, a drake Goosander, Redshank (over), 2 Swallows, 12 Sand Martins. A Cetti's Warbler, Willow Warbler and 4 Siskins at Burton Riggs. A Red Kite flew west from Scalby late afternoon.

 An Osprey north up the coast at midday, first seen at South Bay, it flew over Castle Hill, Peasholm and Long Nab. A Sandwich Tern flew north at Long Nab. A Green Woodpecker, Willow Warbler, 3 Blackcaps, 73 active Rook nests at Ganton golf course. Five singing Blackcaps along South Cliff. A Marsh Harrier flew over Crossgates late afternoon. 50 Brambling, Swallow and Willow Warbler at the old Wykeham Forest nursery area. Cetti's Warbler and Willow Tit at NY Water Park.

 A few grounded migrants at Castle Hill included a Black Redstart, 9 Goldcrests, 2 Ring Ouzels, 3 Blackcap, 16 Chiffchaffs, 2 Redwing, a Fieldfare, and 2 Woodcock. A Ring-necked Parakeet flew south. 23 Redwing and a pair of Stonechat Cloughton Wyke. A pair of Shelduck still present, ranging between Cloughton and Johnson's Marsh. The Great Northern Diver, 2 Common Scoter in South Bay. 1950 Kittiwakes around the town/cliffs. A scattering of Brambling reported from garden feeders. A Goldeneye and 22 Common Scoter flew north at Long Nab. A Green Woodpecker over Scholes Park Road, plus one at Castlebeck Wood. Dunlin at the harbour. At North Yorkshire Water Park: Cetti's Warbler, 6 Blackcaps, Willow Warbler, 12 Sand Martins, 2 Swallows, Goosander and Red-throated Diver still. At Potter Brompton Carr; 10 Shoveler, 6 Little Egrets, Barn Owl, 11 Brambling.

 A Little Ringed Plover at East Lake, NY Water Park, also a Shelduck and 8 Sand Martins. 30 Chiffchaffs around the site. Some duck movement along the coast included 20 Eiders, 4 Long-tailed Ducks (1s Marine Drive, 2N and 1S Long Nab). A Common Sandpiper flew north over the Castle Headland, White Wagtail south. 1700 Kittiwakes present now. The Great Northern Diver in South Bay. A few extra Blackcaps in today; Seamer Road Mere, Troutsdale, Potter Brompton, Burton Riggs (3). At Potter Brompton Carr; Swallow, Sand Martin, Green Sandpiper, Red Kite, Great White Egret, 8 Little Egrets, Snipe, 11 Curlew, 9 Shoveler, 4 Wigeon, 44 Teal, 8 Brambling. Green Woodpecker Ganton Golf Course. 86 Golden Plover Binnington Carr. A Red Kite SE over Thornton-le-Dale late afternoon. 380 Brambling, 50 Yellowhammers, 60 Linnets in fields just south of  Wykeham Forest Raptor Viewpoint.

 The Great Northern Diver still at the harbour, a 2cy Mediterranean Gull, 1000+ Kittiwakes in South Bay. A Blackcap in North Bay, and female Wheatear at Castle Cliffs (left west). A Red Kite over Woodlands Drive mid-morning. Goshawk west over Crossgates. Three Common Snipe Long Nab. Five Goshawks, 4 Crossbills Wykeham Raptor Viewpoint. South through South Cliff: 181 chaffinch, 2 Brambling, 168 Linnets, 274 Siskin. Also Sand Martin flew north.

 A Mealy Redpoll was at a feeder in Cloughton, also a Brambling there. Siskins again reported widespread at feeders in the district, including c50 at Stepney Road. Good numbers of finches moving south at Long Nab, totals here . A Red Kite flew south at Long Nab. A singing Cetti's Warbler at Burton Riggs plus 15 Tufted Ducks. At North Yorkshire Water Park; a Red Kite, 4 Brambling at Long Causeway, and 4 Goldeneye, 4 Lbb Gulls at East Lake, plus14 Chiffchaffs around the area. 200+ Brambling at the old nursery area, Wykeham Forest. A pair of Shoveler and 7 Gadwall Seamer tip pool. A Blackcap at Scalby Beck.
