Friday 28th May
Yesterday evening in Wykeham Forest 2 Goshawks, 6 Swifts and a Garden Warbler were seen from the raptor vewpoint, while elsewhere in the forest were a female and 2 male Nightjars, 6 Woodcock and 2 Tawny Owls. A Redwing was seen in Scalby early this morning, and a Little Egret was at Cow Wath Beck. A Redstart, a Spotted Flycatcher, a Cuckoo, a Garden Warbler, a Grey Wagtail and a Dipper were seen in Scar Wood, and a pair of Spotted Flycatchers were seen at Turkey Carpet. At Long Nab in the afternoon a pair of Crossbills were in the ringing plantation before leaving southwards, a Redpoll (possibly Mealy) was feeding on the cliff top, and a Sedge Warbler was at Cliff Top House.A pair of Shelduck with 8 young were at Johnson's Marsh.
