Saturday 14th May
A HOOPOE was a great find today at Newton House Plantation south of May Beck Car Park and the drake Garganey remained at Seamer Tip Pool where four Mute Swan cygnets had recently hatched. Five Corn Buntings were just south of Yedlingham and a Northern Wheatear flew north at Long Nab. A Raven flew over Hutton Buscel and a Fulmar flew inland over Crossgates. A GLOSSY IBIS was on the boggy area of Cayton Carrs allotments this afternoon but was disturbed by allotment holders at 1530hrs and flew off south east. A Grasshopper Warbler was reeling in a bracken patch this evening just south of Crook Ness and a Hobby was over Wykeham Lakes. Late news was received concerning European Nightjars having returned to Wykeham Forest.
