A Spotted Redshank flew north over Cornelian Ravine this morning, and 30+ House Martins flew east over East Ayton. 9 Curlews were in the field below Seamer Tip pool; 60 Lapwings were in the field south-west of the tip; and a Sedge Warbler, a Chiffchaff and 20 Linnets were by New Dike. 8 Buzzards were circling above Ravenscar quarry; a Hobby flew south over Stoney Marl Moor; and 2 immature Marsh Harriers flew south while a Merlin was present at Stoup Brow. An immature Peregrine flew south-west over Crossgates, and 3 Swifts were with a mixed flock of about 15 Swallows and House Martins. A Great Skua was spotted chasing terns very close in off the Spa car park, and 4 Wigeon were at Scalby Mills. 15 Buzzards flew past Long Nab (12 south-west and 3 north), while 6 Goosanders, 99 House Martins and 91 Swallows flew past southwards. A Green Sandpiper was seen at Seamer Tip pool.
