Saturday 20th March

2 Great Northern Divers were seen early this morning just south of the pier, and later in the day 3 were in South Bay. 35 Whooper Swans flew low over Dalby Forest visitor centre, heading west, and a Merlin and a Raven were seen over Sneaton Low Moor. A Buzzard was seen from Limestone Road in Burniston and a Red Kite was seen high over Thornton Dale, heading west. Highlights seen heading north through South Cliff included a pair of Goosanders, 469 Meadow Pipits (5 going south), 58 Alba Wagtails (one south), 3 Grey Wagtails, a Crossbill and a Snow Bunting. 61 Siskins flew south. A Grey Heron was in Manor Road Park, and 2 Whooper Swans flew north over Seamer Tip pool. 88 Pink-footed Geese, 3 Eiders and 3 Shelduck flew north past Long Nab, and one Shelduck went south, while 47 Curlew were in the fields. A Water Rail was at Seamer Road Mere, 4 Buzzards flew over towards Oliver's Mount, and a Chiffchaff was calling near the western end. A pair of Little Owls were seen in Hutton Buscel and at Wykeham South Lake there were 17 Goldeneye and 22 Wigeon, while 19 Buzzards were all above at once.
