Saturday 27th March
One Red Kite was seen just inland of Long Nab this morning, heading south-west, before returning north with another, flying over Cloughton Wyke then back south over North Bay, South Bay and Gristhorpe cliffs. Photographs show 3 Kites in total past Long Nab. A Pochard, 10 Tufted Duck, 7 Goldeneye, a Treecreeper and a pair of Bullfinch were at Seamer Road Mere, and both a Merlin and an Osprey were seen over Crossgates. Chiffchaffs are now present all over, 5 Common Scoter flew north past Marine Drive, and 2 Curlew were in a field between Ebberston and Yedingham. A Black Redstart was again at Seamer Tip pools today near gorse and hawthorns in the field just east of the pool. A male Blackcap was visiting feeders in Snainton (and last week a female had been seen also).
