A Willow Warbler was singing on Rocks Lane early this morning, and a Crossbill was singing in Broxa Forest. An immature White-tailed Eagle flew south past Long Nab about a mile out to sea, and 2 flew south over Burniston. An Osprey was seen initially over Crossgates, heading north, and seen again over Holbeck, the Esplanade, Newby, Scalby and Harwood Dale. A Barn Owl, 2 Wigeon and 6 Teal were at Cromer pool, and 2 drake Shovelers, 10 Gadwall and 8 Tufted Duck were at Seamer Tip pool. 175 Pink-footed Geese flew north over Thornton Dale, and 3 Sandwich Terns flew north over Cayton and Cornelian Bays. A Swallow flew north over Crossgates, a Sand Martin flew south over Seamer Tip, 2 Wheatears were by the Star Carr scrape, about 100 Fieldfares were on Seamer Carr, and 2 Little Egrets were on Seamer Mead. About 20 Sand Martins were seen investigating old nest holes at Cloughton Wyke west bank. A male Blackcap was seen at Seamer Road Mere and a male Wheatear was at Seamer Tip pool. Highlights from Long Nab include 1050 Pink-footed Geese, 26 Whooper Swans, a Swallow, 50 Sand Martins, 537 Meadow Pipits and a White Wagtail. At Wykeham Lakes this evening there were 2 Teal, 16 Goldeneye, 15 Great Crested Grebes, a Little Ringed Plover, 4 Oystercatchers, 18 Sand Martins, two male Wheatears and a Redwing. 3 Wheatears, a Fieldfare and a Blackbird were inside the Marine Drive wall on Castle Headland, and 2 Shelduck, 8 Wheatears, a White Wagtail, several Pied Wagtails and a Barn Owl were at Scalby Lodge. At Gristhorpe Bay this morning there were 9 Wheatear, a White Wagtail, a pair of Stonechats,a Sand Martin, a Greenshank and a Bar-tailed Godwit, while 115 Pink-footed Geese flew overhead.
