 19 Waxwings flew north west over Scalby Mills and 10 Siskin visited a Throxenby garden. Five Gadwall, two Goldeneye, 2 Goldcrest, three Bullfinch and three singing Song Thrush at Seamer Road Mere. Three Shelduck, four Wigeon, three Teal and a Grey Heron were at Johnson's Marsh. Approximately 400 Pink-footed Geese briefly in flight at Low Marishes this morning. Three Little Egret, nine  Grey Heron, 45 Wigeon, one Pochard, two Kestrel, two Common Buzzard, three Dunlin, approximately 150 Fieldfare and 50 Redwing also present. A Water Rail was at Long Causeway Road, Wykeham and two Curlew and an Oystercatcher were at Ganton Golf Club. Also at Scalby Mills this morning: 186 Wigeon, seven Ringed Plover, single Dunlin, two Shag, Dipper on beck, singing Chiffchaff, male Stonechat, two Grey Wagtail, two Siskin and eight Bullfinch. 157 Oystercatcher, three Curlew, 18 Skylark, pair of Stonechat, four Meadow Pipit and seven Rock Pipit were in Jackson's Bay area. A pair of Stonechat, Tree Sparrow and Peregrine along cliff north of Jackson's Bay. A total of 13 Greenfinch between Castle and Scalby Mills including six singing males. A Chiffchaff and a Nuthatch at Long Nab and a male Tawny Owl calling this evening at Burniston Gardens.

 12 Guillemot and five Red-throated Divers were off the harbour this morning and 11 Turnstone on East Pier.  Five Rock Pipit also present. Single Red Kites were noted at 1120hrs over Heron Lane, Crossgates and at approximately 1400hrs over Forge Valley/Mowthorpe Bridge. At Potter Brompton Carr (whole site) this morning: 85 Wigeon, nine Shelduck, three Gadwall, 65 Teal, 90 Lapwing, two Curlew (one bubbling), 195 Brambling, 225 Linnet, 60 Tree Sparrow, two Marsh Harrier, two Great Egret, two Lesser Black-backed Gull, 330 Common Gull, Kingfisher, Stonechat and 25+ singing Skylark. 40 Lapwing and 31 Golden Plover were on arable on Binnington Carr. Three Pintail (two drakes) were at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park during the afternoon. Five Gadwall, three Goldeneye, Chiffchaff, six Goldcrest, Nuthatch and six Siskin at Seamer Road Mere.

 A male Blackcap was on garden feeders at Newby Farm Road. Siskins were in a Crossgates garden (8) and a Throxenby garden (3). 50 Brambling were at May Beck and a Raven, Barn Owl and Shelduck were in the Seamer Tip bridge area. 15 Goldeneye and seven Great crested Grebe were at North Yorkshire Water Park and 20 plus Fieldfare were at Silpho. 300 Pin-footed Geese, 250 Fieldfare and 50 Wigeon were at Low Marishes and four Common Buzzard were over Yedingham. A Great Egret, Little Egret, 90 Wigeon and eight Teal were at Potter Brompton Carr viewed from Haybridge. 27 Whooper Swans were in a field on the west side of Charity Farm, Thornton Carrs. Nine Mediterranean Gulls (4 ads, 4 3rd cy and 1 2cy), 166 Black-headed Gulls, four Common Gulls, two adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls, two Red-throated Divers, a Peregrine and 3 Rock Pipit were at South Bay this evening. Five Goshawk, five Common Buzzard and two Raven at Troutsdale.

 The Great Northern Diver and Great Crested Grebe in South Bay, 3 Mediterranean Gulls in the roost and a Blackcap at St Mary's Church, Woodcock at Castle Hill. At Potter Brompton Carr; 4 Shelduck, 75 Wigeon, Great White Egret, 55 Lapwing, 275 Common Gulls, 15 Brambling. Two Goldeneye, 3 Gadwall at Seamer Road Mere. Two Goosanders and 2 Eiders north past Long Nab. Shelduck Seamer tip pool. 1+ Tundra Bean Goose at Low Marishes. Approximately 300 Brambling between the Nursery and the new telephone tower at Wykeham.

 The seven Tundra Bean Geese still at Low Marishes, also 600 Pink-footed Geese, 4 Whooper Swans, 2 Shelduck, 150 Wigeon, 12 Shoveler, 5 Grey Herons, and a Merlin.  Great Northern Diver, Great Crested Grebe, and 13 Mediterranean Gulls in South Bay. 49 Fulmars at Castle Cliffs plus 21 at Cloughton Wyke, where 5 Eiders flew south. Four Pink-footed Geese at Seamer tip pool.

 Lots of Goshawk action in the forests today, up to six reported from the Raptor Viewpoint, and two at Langdale Forest, and one at Cloughton Woods. Pink-footed Geese were moving north in good numbers, 550+ along the coast and 467+ over the forests. Three Ravens were also seen from the Raptor Viewpoint today. Three singing Stonechats at Derwent Head, Fylingdales Moor, and Crossbills widespread throughout our forests now, many in song. A Snow Bunting was feeding in the field behind Long Nab Observatory, two Goosanders flew north there, and 43 Wigeon high out east. 50 Brambling at Cockmoor Hall car park area, plus 100 at Wykeham Forest old nurseries. At Potter Brompton Carr; 10 Snipe, Great White Egret, Marsh Harrier, Water Rail, 38 Redwing, 330 Linnets, 40 Brambling, 68 Chaffinch, 55 Tree Sparrows. The Great Northern Diver around the harbour again. c300 Golden Plover in fields at Lockton Low Moor. The Gristhorpe Bay high tide roost held 228 Curlew, 218 Redshank, 123 Oystercatchers, 56 Purple Sandpipers, and 7 Turnstone. Five Grey Partridges, and single Mediterranean and Lbb Gulls in fields there.

 The Ring-necked Parakeet was again at Ravenscar today. Seven Tundra Bean Geese at Low Marishes, also 300 Pink-footed Geese, 450 Wigeon, 2 Dunlin, and a Curlew. Three Curlews at Potter Brompton Carr. A record flock of 18 Little Egrets near Yedingham this morning, plus four at Seamer Carr. 70 Pink-footed Geese and 5 Shelducks flew north at Long Nab. Goshawks again active around Troutsdale, 100+ Brambling there also. Good raptor action viewed from Bickley Gate area; 17 Common Buzzards, Peregrine, 3 Goshawks, and Raven. A Merlin along Old Wives Way (from Saltergate), also 80 Fieldfare, Little Grebe, 14 Golden Plover, Curlew. At East Lake , NY Water Park; 4 Shoveler, 27 Goldeneye, 7 Great Crested Grebes, 9 Gadwall, 28 Cormorants. Two Goosanders on the river at Wrench Green. The Great Northern Diver still around the harbour.

 The Ring-necked Parakeet was seen again on garden feeders in Ravenscar. Six Marsh Tits on the Forge Valley feeders. Six Siskin on feeders in a Crossgates garden. 60 Redshank and a Dunlin at Scalby Mills. In South Bay; Great Northern Diver, 2 Great Crested Grebes, and a Shag. Four Red-throated Divers of Marine Drive and just three off Long Nab (one in full breeding plumage). Goosander still at Peasholm Park. 30 Brambling in Givendale.

 At least one Tundra Bean Goose with Pinkfeet at Low Marishes. The Great Northern Diver, two Great Crested Grebes in South Bay, plus an adult Mediterranean Gull, and 3 adult Lbb Gulls in the gull roost. Three Curlew flew south at Long Nab.

 Seven Tundra Bean Geese were at Low Marishes today, also a Pintail there. 300 Pink-footed Geese flew north over Gristhorpe and shortly after over Long Nab. The Great Northern Diver at the harbour, Great Crested Grebe in South Bay. 26 Fulmars at Castle Cliffs, 6 Rock Pipits, 3 Shags Marine Drive, also two Peregrines (ad male and 2cy female). Six Redwing St Marys Church. The gull roost in South Bay this eve held 2 Mediterranean Gulls. At Potter Brompton Carr; 120 Wigeon, 2 Shelduck, Marsh Harrier, 2 Oystercatchers.

 The Tundra Bean Geese at Low Marishes increased to nine, also 600 Pink-footed Geese, 12 Whooper Swans (+ 2 Yedingham), and 5 Shelduck. The Great Northern Diver and Great Crested Grebe in South Bay. Six Lapwing at Scalby Mills. 47 Curlews at Long Nab, where 26 Skylarks flew north. At North Yorkshire Water Park; a drake Mandarin (Match Lake), 5 Great Crested Grebes, 6 Goldeneye. Two Mediterranean Gulls at Holbeck car park. Plenty of Goshawk activity from the Wykeham Forest Raptor Viewpoint this morning, also a Red Kite over Troutsdale. The drake Goosander still at Peasholm Park Lake.

 The seven Tundra Bean Geese were again at Low Marishes, although quite mobile and elusive at times. Also there 4 Whooper Swans, 5 Shelduck, 150 Wigeon, 6 Cormorants. Two Whooper Swans still in the beet field at Yedingham. A Water Pipit was seen briefly in fields above Jackson's Bay, also a Dunlin there. Three drake Teal with 98 Wigeon at Scalby Mills. Two Tundra Bean Geese at Potter Brompton Carr, also there two Russian White-fronted Geese, a Pink-footed Goose, 90 Wigeon, 2 Oystercatchers, 2 Great White Egrets, 2 Little Egrets. Ten Meadow Pipits at the Castle Headland also 33 Fulmars, the Great Northern Diver and Great Crested Grebe in South Bay. 27 Guillemots off Marine Drive, plus 30 feeding off Long Nab. At North Yorkshire Water Park: 37 Goldeneye, 3 drake Pochard, Red-throated Diver, 5 Wigeon, and singing Cetti's Warbler. 22 Mandarins (14 drakes) at Harwood Dale Lake. A roost of 1400 Starlings at Riverhead Farm.

 An interesting February day. Highlights included the return of the seven Tundra Bean Geese to Low Marishes. Two Russian White-fronted Geese at Potter Brompton Carr. Scarborough's first coastal Cetti's Warbler, a singing bird from cliff side scrub at North Cliff Golf Course. A Black Redstart was seen briefly on roof tops at Queens Parade, North Bay. A very early White Wagtail in fields above Jackson's Bay, and a Ring-necked Parakeet on a garden feeder at Ravenscar. A male Blackcap on feeders at Newby Farm Road, Newby. Good numbers of Pink-footed Geese moving north along the coast; 423 between 08.25 and 08.45. The Great Northern Diver, and Great Crested Grebe in South Bay. Some excellent wader counts; 63 Purple Sandpipers (6 Scalby Mills + 57 Gristhorpe Bay), 316 Redshank (68 Scalby Mills + 248 Gristhorpe Bay), 316 Oystercatchers (264 Jackson's Bay + 52 Gristhorpe Bay), 159 Curlew (14 Jackson's Field +15 Jackson's Bay + 132 Gristhorpe Bay), 39 Turnstone(22 harbour + 1 S Mills + 16 Gristhorpe Bay). Other highlights from Low Marishes were 5 Pintail, 6 Whooper Swans, 450 Pink-footed Geese, Little Egret. At Potter Brompton Carr also two Great White Egrets,  3 Little Egrets, 2 Shelducks, 104 Pink-footed Geese, 24 Shoveler, 226 Teal, 106 Wigeon, Marsh Harrier, 110 Brambling, 130 Linnets, Cetti's Warbler, a Willow Tit, 2 Grey Partridge. 31 Golden Plover at Binnington Carr. 40 Siskin at Course Lake, NY Water Park. 52 Carrion Crows Jackson's Field plus a Jackdaw showing some features of the Nordic race.

In the Scalby Mills/Jackson's Bay area; 110 Wigeon, 84 Oystercatchers, 11 Ringed Plover, 42 Redshank, 8 Turnstone, 1 Purple Sandpiper, a 2cy Mediterranean Gull (flew north), 2 Red-throated Divers. In fields/cliff tops there;  21 Skylarks, 8 Meadow Pipits, 12 Fieldfare, Mistle Thrush, 4 Stonechats (2 pairs), 51 Pied Wagtails, 3 Rock Pipits, 90 Starlings, 8 Linnets, and a Siskin. 184+ Pink-footed Geese north along the coast this morning. The Great Northern Diver, Great Crested Grebe, and a Canada Goose in South Bay. 23 Turnstone at the harbour. A Willow Tit at East Lake, NY Water Park. A Jack Snipe at the "scrape" at Long Nab. South Bay this evening; Gbb Gull, 5 Lbb Gulls (1 intermedius), 475 Herring, 264 Common, 235 Black-headed, 4 Mediterranean Gulls. Also Great Northern and 3 Red-throated Divers, 2 Rock Pipits and 2 Grey Wagtails.

 A Long-tailed Duck flew south past Long Nab, 61 Pink-footed Geese flew north. The Great Northern Diver still at the harbour, and 2 Great Crested Grebes, 5 Red-throated Divers, 4 sinenis Cormorants, 3 Shags in South Bay. Two Whooper Swans near Yedingham, plus 23 at Thornton Carrs. 120 Siskin at the latter site. A Shelduck near Seamer tip and 50 Pink-footed Geese north there. The drake Goosander still at Peasholm Park, and Dipper in the Glen. A Red Kite at May Beck. 324 Wigeon, 26 Redshank, 6 Ringed Plover, 8 Purple Sandpipers Scalby Mills. Gulls roosting in South Bay included 5 Mediterranean, 3 (ad) Lbb Gulls, 350 Black-headed, and 600 Herring. A Barn Owl in North Bay near the Oasis this evening.

 Pink-footed Geese were moving north along the coast today; 305+ in total. 200 were also feeding at Low Marishes, also 350 Lapwing, 4 Dunlin, Little Egret there. 10 Little Egrets near Ebberston. A single Whooper Swan at Flixton Carr. At NY Water Park: 18 Goldeneye, 2 Jack Snipe, 2 Water Rails, Red-throated Diver, 10 Great Crested Grebes. A Great Crested Grebe in South Bay, but no sign of the reported Slavonian Grebe there. The Great Northern Diver again around the harbour. Skylarks on the move; 34 past Long Nab. 200+ Brambling in Wykeham Forest near the raptor viewpoint car park. 56 Teal at Johnson's Marsh. Incresed Heron activity at the Mowthorpe heronry. A Raven flew north over the Castle Headland mid-afternoon.  A Bar-tailed Godwit,8 Ringed Plover, 45 Redshank, 221 Wigeon Scalby Mills. A Great White Egret, 216 Wigeon, 2 Shelducks Potter Brompton Carr. At Harwood Dale Lake; 2 Shelduck, 5 Goosander, 150 Lapwing. Dipper in Peasholm Glen, Goosander at the lake.  A Slavonian Grebe was found in the main harbour late afternoon. A Black-throated Diver was in Cornelian Bay but flew off south, also 5 Red-throated Divers, Common Scoter, and 18 Purple Sandpipers. Two Goosanders in Peasholm Park. The Great Northern Diver still at the harbour, and Great Crested Grebe in South Bay. The long staying Red-throated Diver still at NY Water Park, also 18 Goldeneye, and a Cetti's Warbler at East Lake. A Dipper in Cow Wath Beck, Scalby. 23 Wigeon at Scalby Lodge Pond. Seven Mandarins, Goosander at Harwood Dale Lake. Great Crested Grebe at Burton Riggs.250 Fieldfare, 25 Redwing Coverdale Moor. 800 Pink-footed geese, Shelduck Low Marishes. 60 Pink-footed Geese, Barn Owl Cayton Carrs.  The Great Northern Diver still around the harbour, 7 Mediterranean Gulls (4 ads, 2 3cy, 1 2cy) in South Bay this evening. 30 Purple Sandpipers and a Bar-tailed Godwit at Black Rocks (South Bay). 44 Pink-footed Geese at Cayton Carrs. Four Oystercatchers near Seamer tip pool. The Dipper still in Peasholm Glen, and Goosander on the lake. A Whooper Swan with Mute Swans at Flixton Carr. At Potter Brompton Carr: male Merlin, 195 Wigeon, 12 Shoveler, 4 Gadwall, 72 Teal, 2 Coot, Curlew, 3 Little Egrets, Great White Egret, 4 Stonechats, 65 Tree Sparrows, and a possible Water Pipit seen briefly.

Two Dippers at Peasholm Glen. Goosander, 4 Goldeneye, Water Rail Seamer Rd Mere. 174 Fulmars flew souh past Long Nab, a Shelduck flew north. 80 Pink-footed Geese grazing at Cayton Carrs. A Little Egret at Ellerburn. 200 Siskin at Pexton Lake, 100+ Brambling in with 400 Chaffinches at Nabgate, Dalby Forest.

 A clear day and plenty of Goshawk activity observed in the forests, also a Raven seen from the Raptor Viewpoint. A Green Woodpecker in Troutsdale. Pink-footed Geese were on the move north; four skeins totalling 300+ were observed in the area. Two Russian White-fronted Geese were at East Lake, NY Water Park with the Greylags, a female Goshawk over Causeway Plantation,  also a calling Cetti's Warbler was in the SE corner of the Watersports Lake, the Red-throated Diver was still present. A male Blackcap was at Seamer Tip pools. South Bay held Great Northern and 2 Red-throated Divers, 21 Cormorants, a Shag, and 5 Mediterranean Gulls. Two Little Egrets at Brompton Butts, plus 6 near Ebberston. Four Goosanders at Seamer Road Mere, plus 2 at Harwood Dale Lake. A Shelduck at Johnson's Marsh.

 The Red-throated Diver still at North Yorkshire Water Park, also there were 8 Shoveler, 30 Teal, 18 Goldeneye, Pochard, drake Goosander, 3 Oystercatchers, and 280 Black-headed Gulls in the roost. The Great Northern Diver, and 17 Turnstone in or around the harbour. Three Mediterranean Gulls in South Bay near The Spa, and a Shelduck flew north there. 50 Pink-footed Geese flew north over North Bay this afternoon. 16 Curlews at Scalby Lodge. 12 Rock Pipits at Long Nab. Six Little Egrets between Ebberston and Yedingham. Two Oystercatchers at Burton Riggs. At Seamer Road Mere; 3 Goosanders, 3 Goldeneye, 22 Coot, 16 Tufted Duck, Water Rail, and 10 Siskin.

 A scattering of Goosanders today; Peasholm Park, Burton Riggs (2), and Harwood Dale Lake (4). Also 30 Wigeon, 3 Teal, 60 Lapwing at the latter site. A Willow Tit at Forge Valley feeders (scarce there), plus another at Burton Riggs. An Oystercatcher at the latter site. The Great Crested Grebe, 4 Mediterranean Gulls, 6 Guillemots, 4 Red-throated Divers, Great Northern Diver in South Bay/harbour area. A female Blackcap at Castle Hill.

 Seven Tundra Bean Geese were at Low Marishes with c1,050 Pink-footed Geese. They were seen leaving high SE @ 15.50 hrs. Also there were Shelduck, 150 Wigeon, 6 Teal, 18 Dunlin, Great White Egret, and a Merlin. Two Woodcocks, 41 Blackbirds at Castle Hill, drake Red-breasted Merganser south past Marine Drive, Great Northern Diver at the harbour, Great Crested Grebe, 3 sinensis Cormorants in South Bay. The gull roost there held lower numbers tonight, included 18 Mediterranean Gulls but they all left NW.  Drake Goosander Peasholm Park Lake. 80 Fieldfare Flixton Carr. The Red-throated Diver , 14 Goldeneye, Shelduck at North Yorkshire Water Park. Little Egret Brompton, plus 4 at Ebberston. Three Waxwings near the bridge at Burton Riggs, also Chiffchaff there.

 Six Waxwings flew north at Long Nab, also 120 Pink-footed Geese north there. 12 Waxwings were by the Cleveland Way, near the Tea Rooms at Ravenscar this afternoon. The Gristhorpe Bay hide tide roost held 1 Knot, 178 Redshank, 163 Curlew, 48 Oystercatchers, 11 Turnstone, and 52 Purple Sandpipers. Floods at Low Marishes; 600+ Pink-footed Geese, 250 Wigeon, 150 Lapwing, plus two distant unidentified geese thought possibly to be Bean Geese. Two Great Crested Grebes in South Bay, Great Northern Diver at the harbour plus one south past Marine Drive. Two Goosanders, 5 Goldeneye, female Blackcap at Seamer Road Mere. At Potter Brompton Carr; 169 Wigeon, 14 Shoveler, Water Rail, 38 Brambling, 2 Barn Owls, 65 Lapwing, Great White Egret, 2 Little Egrets. 450 Lapwing, 34 Golden Plover over Willerby Carr. 17 Mediterranean Gulls, 738 Black-headed, 64 Common, 12 Gbb, and one Lbb (2cy) in the South Bay gull roost this evening.

 A possible Brunnich's Guillemot was seen distantly in South Bay late morning but unfortunately swam further out, there were no further sightings. Two Great Norther Divers in South Bay, plus one flew north past Long Nab this morning. Also nine Oystercatchers north past Long Nab. The South Bay gull roost held 13 Mediterranean , 39 Common, and a Lbb Gull. Two Great Crested Grebes in South Bay. Five Ringed Plovers at Scalby Mills. Two Whooper Swans near Yedingham. Three Little Egrets again near Ebberston (Snainton to Yedingham road). A Goosander at Peasholm Park. The Shelduck still at Seamer tip. 15 Mandarins at Hackness Lake. The Red-throated Diver still at North Yorkshire Water Park.

 At Potter Brompton Carr; Merlin(2cy), Peregrine, Barn Owl, 9 Shoveler, 163 Wigeon, 106 Teal, 2 Shelduck, 5 Snipe, 16 Grey Partridge, 2 Little Egrets, 2 Great White Egrets, 35 Brambling, 340 Linnets. 3 Dippers at the mouth of Scalby Beck. Two Little Egrets at Ebberston, one Seamer tip, and one at Causeway Lake (private access), North Yorkshire Water Park, also an Oystercatcher on the Watersports Lake island. Great Northern Diver, Great Crested Grebe, Purple Sandpiper at the harbour, 14 Guillemots, 3 Red-throated Divers off Marine Drive.
