All 7 Lapland Bunting remained up at Long Nab where there was also a Snipe, a Chiffchaff in Crook Ness and a Goldcrest in Hundale.
There was no sign of the Black-throated Diver at Wykeham South Lake but present there were 4 Egyptian Geese, 4 Gadwall, 92 Wigeon and 10 Oystercatcher, 2 Shelduck were on Scalby Lodge Pond, 223 Wigeon were at Scalby Mills, 2 Goosander were on Harwood Dale Lake, 5 Bar-tailed Godwit were in Jackson's Bay and 600+ Black-headed Gull roosted out in North Bay.
On the move (south unless stated) were 6 Fulmar + 15 north, 5 Gannet, 4 Cormorant, 2 Shag north, 29 Black-headed Gull, 13 Common Gull, 4 Herring Gull + 4 north, 6 Great Black-backed Gull, 4 Skylark, 1 Alba, 2 Goldfinch, 4 Linnet and 1 Snow Bunting.

At Long Nab 7 Lapland Bunting were present despite the Stubble being ploughed up yesterday, the Black-throated Diver, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Gadwall, 40 Wigeon and a Lesser Black-backed Gull were on Wykeham South Lake and 120 Fieldfare were on Binnington Carr.
On the move (south unless stated) were 5 Fulmar + 2 north, 49 Gannet + 1 north, 1 Cormorant north, 2 Greylag Goose, 10 Black-headed Gull + 8 north, 9 Common Gull + 8 north, 160 Herring Gull, 17 Great Black-backed Gull, 3 Auk sp + 1 north, 11 Skylark, 1 Alba, 3 Carrion Crow north and 3 Chaffinch north.

Spring appears to be getting close with each passing day and today produced the first singing Chiffchaff back in Cayton.
The Black-throated Diver remained on Wykeham South Lake where there were 4 Egyptian Geese, 5 Oystercatcher and 2 Curlew, a Little Owl was seen along the track between the lake and West Ayton, 8 Whooper Swan were near Thornton le Dale, 4+ Goshawk were seen from the Wykeham Raptor viewpoint, a Razorbill was in North Bay and 200 Brambling were at Malton Core Farm.
On the move (south unless stated) were 32 Pink-footed Geese north, 11 Greylag Geese, 2 Barnacle Geese, 3 Lapwing, 17 Black-headed Gull, 1 Common Gull, 73 Herring Gull, 3 Great Black-backed Gull, 2 Alba, 34 Skylark, 3 Chaffinch north, 15 Linnet and 2 Siskin.

The Black-throated Diver was still present on Wykeham South Lake where there was also 2 Egyptian Geese, 4 Gadwall, 3 Pochard, 2 Goldeneye, 7 Oystercatcher and a Lesser Black-backed Gull. Two Egyptian Geese, 3 Snipe, 400 Common Gull and a Lesser Black-backed Gull were on Potter Brompton Carr (no general access) 3 Red-throated Diver and 2 Guillemot were in North Bay, a Great Crested Grebe, 3 Guillemot and a Razorbill were in South Bay, an Eider, 340 Wigeon 120 Black-headed Gull, 85 Common Gull and 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull were at Scalby Mills, the Coot was still in Peasholme Park, 66 Oystercatcher, 59 Redshank, 5 Bar-tailed Godwit, 3 Purple Sandpiper and 11 Turnstone were in Jackson's Bay, 28 Purple Sandpiper and 52 Turnstone were in the Harbour, up to 7 Mediterranean Gull were at Holbeck including the Polish bird PNN5 and a Meadow Pipit and 2 Lapland Bunting were at Long Nab.

A Great Grey Shrike at Low Woof Howe in Langdale Forest was the highlight of the day and was possibly the same bird seen at Stony Knoll back in late January.
At Wykeham South Lake the Black-throated Diver was still present along with 2 Pink-footed Geese, 2 Egyptian Geese, 9 Gadwall, 3 Goldeneye and 3 Oystercatcher, 3 Whooper Swan were on Lebberston Carr, 4 Shelduck, 49 Lapwing, 4 Snipe and 6 Fieldfare were on Potter Brompton Carr (no general access) and 10 Lapwing, 5 Rock Pipit and 2 Lapland Bunting were at Long Nab.

The Black-throated Diver returned to Wykeham South Lake where there were also 2 Egyptian Geese, in North Bay there was 1 Red-throated Diver, 3 Purple Snadpiper and 6 Guillemot, a Great Crested Grebe and a Guillemot were in South Bay, 30 Teal and 8 Wigeon were on Johnson's Marsh, a Goosander was on Harwood Dale Lake, 15 Purple Sandpiper were in the Harbour, 4 Goshawk and 4 Crossbill were seen from the Wykeham Raptor viewpoint, 200+ Chaffinch, 12 Brambling and 24 Crossbill were in Dalby Forest and a Grey Wagtail was in song by Valley Road Duckpond.
On the move (south unless stated) were 1 Red-throated Diver + 1 north, 22 Fulmar + 1 north, 219 Gannet + 9 north, 1 Cormorant + 6 north, 8 Common Scoter, 3 Oystercatcher north, 95 Black-headed Gull, 93 Common Gull + 4 north, 311 Herring Gull, 82 Great Black-backed Gull, 3 Guillemot and 3 Skylark.

What was presumably the same Slavonian Grebe from the 20th relocated to South Bay and was showing relatively well close inshore between the Crown Hotel and the Spa during the evening. The Black-throated Diver was still present on Wykeham South Lake until 16.40hrs when it left west, 6 Goldeneye and 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull were also there, 5 Goshawk were seen from the Wykeham Raptor viewpoint and 7 Mediterranean Gull were at Holbeck.

In North Bay there was no sign of the Slavonian Grebe, there were only 2 Red-throated Diver and a Common Scoter there. Up at Long Nab 7 Lapland Bunting were still present, the Black-throated Diver reappeared on Wykeham South Lake and 14 Mandarin were on Hackness Lake.
On the move (south unless stated) were 1 Red-throated Diver + 1 north, 1 Gannet, 1 Cormorant, 1 adult summer Mediterranean Gull, 107 Black-headed Gull, 29 Common Gull, 147 Herring Gull, 3 Great Black-backed Gull, 7 Skylark + 1 north, 3 Greenfinch and 7 Linnet.

A Slavonian Grebe in North Bay during the afternoon was the highlight of a quiet day.
The only other report was from Wykeham South Lake where there was no sign of the Diver or the Smew, the Gull roost was very small with only 600 Black-headed Gull, 650 Common Gull, 60 Herring Gull and 8 Great Black-backed Gull present.

Both the Black-throated Diver and Smew remained on Wykeham South Lake but only 8 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Pink-footed Goose, 2 Pintail and 3 Goldeneye were still present.
At Long Nab 8 Lapland Bunting were again in the stubble and a Red-throated Diver, 3 Guillemot and a Grey Wagtail were in South Bay.
On the move (south unless stated) were 1 Canada Goose, 50+ Pink-footed Geese north, 3 Black-headed Gull, 44 Herring Gull, 19 Skylark, 2 alba, 4 Starling, 2 Siskin and 5 Linnet + 1 north.

A very pleasant day with the first meaningful signs that spring isn't too far away!
A Black-throated Diver was discovered on Wykeham South Lake where there were also 10 Great Crested Grebe, a Little Egret, a Pink-footed Goose, 4 Gadwall, 40+ Wigeon, 20+ Teal, 4 Pintail, 15 Pochard, 28 Tufted Duck, 15 Goldeneye, the redhead Smew, 5 Buzzard, a Snipe and the adult Little Gull.
A Little Egret and a Dunlin were on Cayton Carr, 4 Whooper Swan were on Leberston Carr, 2 Egyptian Geese were on Potter Brompton Carr (no general access), up at Scalby Mills there was a Shelduck, 300+ Wigeon, 2 Pintail, an Eider, a Lesser Black-backed Gull and 2 Guillemot and at Long Nab there were 3 Red-thoated Diver, 1 Snipe, 23 Guillemot, 1 Razorbill and at least 3 Lapland Bunting.
On the move (south unless stated) were 16 Red-throated Diver + 8 north, 4 Fulmar + 2 north, 137 Gannet, 2 Cormorant + 4 north, 1 Grey Heron, 340 Pink-footed Geese north, 3 Greylag Geese, 9 Shelduck north, 1 Common Scoter, 1 Eider, 2 Goosander north, 2 Curlew north, 26 Black-headed Gull, 2 Common Gull, 57 Herring Gull, 11 Great Black-backed Gull, 35 Auk sp + 45 north, 7 Skylark in off and south, 1 alba and 1 Linnet.

An adult Iceland Gull at Wykeham South Lake was the highlight there, also present were 2 Pintail, 14 Pochard, 850 Black-headed Gull, 620 Common Gull, 314 Herring Gull, 8 Great Black-backed Gull and the adult Little Gull. At Potter Brompton Carr there were 3 Buzzard, a Peregrine, 950 Lapwing, a Dunlin, a Curlew, 11 Snipe and 86 Fieldfare (no general access), 8 Lapland Bunting were at Long Nab, and the Coot was still present at Peasholme Park.
On the move (south unless stated) were 1 Great Northern Diver, 1 Fulmar + 2 north, 1 Gannet, 1 Cormorant, 1 Shag, 2 Pink-footed Geese north, 2 Greylag Geese, 84 Black-headed Gull, 46 Common Gull, 106 Herring Gull, 1 adult Iceland Gull, 4 Great Black-backed Gull, 2 Guillemot and 3 Skylark north.

Up at Long Nab there were 35 Skylark and at least 6 Lapland Bunting. A Shelduck was at Scalby Lodge Pond, 18 Mandarin were in Troutsdale, 2 Pintail and a Goldeneye were on Wykeham South Lake, 3 Goosander were on the Mere, 11 Grey Partridge were by Johnson's Marsh, 5 Bar-tailed Godwit were in Jackson's Bay, a Kingfisher was in Peasholme Park and 800 Wood Pigeon, 875 Jackdaw and 900 Rook roosted at Knipe Point.
On the move (south unless stated) were 1 Red-throated Diver + 4 north, 2 Fulmar + 7 north, 2 Gannet, 2 Cormorant, 20 Black-headed Gull + 55 north, 9 Common Gull + 68 north, 353 Herring Gull north, 3 Great Black-backed Gull + 7 north, 1 presumed Herring x Glaucous Gull north, 1 Guillemot and 2 Auk sp + 2 north.

The redhead Smew remained on Wykeham South Lake where there were also 4 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Pink-footed Goose, 209 Greylag Geese, 58 Canada Geese, 10 Mute Swan, 104 Mallard, 8 Gadwall, 17 Wigeon, 13 Teal, 14 Tufted Duck, 3 Pochard, 6 Goldeneye and 17 Coot.
Elsewhere the Firecrest was still at the Mere, 8 Whooper Swan were on Lebberston Carr, a Red-throated Diver and 25 Purple Sandpiper were in the Harbour, a Red-throated Diver, a Purple Sandpiper and a Guillemot were in North Bay, 430 Wigeon, an Eider, 11 Purple Sandpiper, 54 Redshank and a Bar-tailed Godwit were at Scalby Mills, 2 Goosander were on the Mere, 11 Curlew were at Scalby Lodge Pond and a Little Owl was at West Ayton Carr where 600 Wood Pigeon flew west.

Up at Long Nab there were 5 Lapland Bunting in the stubble field along with a Lapwing, 2 Snipe and 27 Skylark, an Eider was at Scalby Mills.

The adult Little Gull was still at Wykeham South lake along with 3 Great Crested Grebe. Two Egyptian Geese, 880 Lapwing and a Lesser Black-backed Gull were on Potter Brompton Carr (no general access), 56 Teal, 345 Lapwing and 6 Dunlin were on Folkton Carr and 30+ Siskin were in Prospect Gardens in Scarborough.

On the 11th the Great Northern Diver was unfortunately found dead in the Harbour during the day, despite feeding very well over the last few months it has slowly been deteriorating, possibly due to the pollution in the Harbour.
At Long Nab there were 4 Lapland and 3 Snow Buntings in the stubble north of the Hut and 26 Purple Sandpiper were roosting in the Harbour.

The only report on the 12th was of a male Hen Harrier south over the A170 at Irton during the morning.

The redhead Smew was still present at Wykeham South Lake, a White-fronted Goose had joined the Greylag Flock there and an adult Little Gull was present with the other Gulls, also there were 13 Mute Swan, 1 Egyptian Goose, 7 Gadwall, 13 Pochard and 3 Goldeneye.
The Great Northern Diver was still in the Harbour and a second was again in South Bay, also in the Harbour were 50+ Turnstone and 24 Purple Sandpiper, at Johnson's Marsh were 77 Teal, 2 Wigeon and 6 Tufted Duck, 4 Red-throated Diver, an Eider and 3 Guillemot were in North Bay, an Eider was at Scalby Mills, 2 Red-throated Diver, 3 Shag and 2 Guillemot were off Marine Drive, a Great Crested Grebe, 3 Guillemot and a Razorbill were in South Bay and at Long Nab 42 Red-throated Diver and 13 Guillemot were offshore, a Dunlin was on the rocks and 4 Lapland Bunting were in the field behind the Hut.
On the move (south unless stated) were 54 Red-throated Diver + 2 north, 5 Fulmar + 5 north including 1 Blue Fulmar, 41 Gannet + 4 north, 1 Shelduck north, 17 Lapwing in off, 3 Curlew, 293 Black-headed Gull + 2 north, 1 adult Mediterranean Gull, 690 Common Gull + 4 north, 1088 Herring Gull, 15 Great Black-backed Gull, 1 1st winter Little Gull north, 3 Guillemot + 1 north, 1 Auk sp north, 17 Skylark in off and south and 1 Stock Dove.

There was no sign of yesterdays reported Black-necked/Slavonian Grebe at Wykeham South Lake but the redhead Smew reappeared, also there were 5 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Egyptian Goose, 20, Teal, 32 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 12 Pochard and 11 Goldeneye.
The Great Northern Diver and 20 Purple Sandpiper were in the Harbour, 2 Egyptian Geese were on Ruston Carr, a Shelduck was on Flotmanby Carr, on Johnson's Marsh there were 2 Wigeon, 94 Teal and 5 Tufted Duck, an Eider was in Cornelian Bay, 628 Wigeon were at Scalby Mills, a Water Rail was in Northstead Manor Gardens, a Shag, 7 Guillemot and a Razorbill were in North Bay, 2 Red-throated Diver, 6 Shag, 3 Guillemot and a Razorbill were off Marine Drive, 7 Mediterranean Gull were at Holbeck, 2 Kingfisher were in Peasholme Park, the Firecrest was still at the Mere, and 2 Lapland Bunting were at Long Nab, just south of the Hut, 7 Red-throated Diver and 5 Guillemot were feeding offshore and 26 Curlew and 6 Rock Pipit were on the rocks there.
A 1st winter Glaucous Gull and a 3rd winter Iceland Gull south past Long Nab were the Highlights of a morning watch there, also on the move (south unless stated) were 3 Red-throated Diver + 1 north, 6 Fulmar + 4 north including on Blue Fulmar, 17 Gannet + 1 north, 6 Cormorant + 6 north, 1 Common Scoter, 20 Black-headed Gull, 62 Common Gull, 958 Herring Gull, 98 Great Black-backed Gull, and 2 Guillemot + 2 north.

At the Mere there were 5 Gadwall, 3 Bullfinch and the Firecrest remained and in the Harbour the Great Northern Diver was still present. Up at Holbeck there were 3 Mediterranean Gull, on Johnson's Marsh were 4 Grey Heron, 7 Wigeon, 65 Teal and 4 Tufted Duck, 5 Goosander were on Throxenby Mere, 118 Lapwing were at Harwood Dale, 55 Common Gull, 100+ Fieldfare and 50+ Starling were at Silpho Moor, 33 Redshank were at Scalby Mills and there was a report of a Black-necked/Slavonian Grebe at Wykeham South Lake.

The Great Northern Diver and a Red-throated Diver were in the Harbour and a second Great Northern Diver was in South Bay where there was also a Red-throated Diver. 31 Red-throated Diver were on the sea between Cloughton Wyke and Crook Ness, 2 Skylark were in song at Long Nab, 7 Goosander were in Jackson's Bay, 18 Ringed Plover and a Knot were in fields by Scalby Lodge Pond briefly before flying off towards Cromer Point, 4 Common Buzzard and a Goshawk were at Hilla Green and a Shelduck was at Seamer Tip.

The Great Northern Diver was still preforming well in the Harbour, 12 Purple Sandpiper were also there. In South Bay there was a Great Crested Grebe and 80 Black-headed Gull, 1 Great Black-backed Gull and 1950 Herring Gull roosted there, 1 Red-throated Diver, 7 Shag and 2 Guillemot were off Marine Drive and 2 Shag, 2 Cormorant and 2 Guillemot were in North Bay and 6 Cormorant, 582 Wigeon, 10 Oystercatcher, 1 Ringed Plover, 75+ Black-headed Gull, 1 Common Gull, 450+ Herring Gull and 40+ Great Black-backed Gull were at Scalby Mills.
Singles of Gadwall, Goosander, Buzzard and Kingfisher were seen at the Mere, 78 Teal, 4 Tufted Duck and 15 Moorhen were on Johnson's Marsh and a Goshawk was seen at Ravenscar.
On the move south were 2 Red-throated Diver, 1 Shag, 3 Cormorant, 3 Goldeneye and 2 Skylark.

At Wykeham South Lake there were 4 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Goldeneye, 900 Black-headed Gull, 550 Common Gull, 370 Herring Gull and 20 Great Black-backed Gull, a Red-throated Diver, 2 Shag and a Common Scoter were in North Bay, a Water Rail was seen again in Northstead Manor Gardens, 43 Purple Sandpiper were in the Harbour, 8 Bar-tailed Godwit were in Jackson's Bay and in Peasholme Park the were 20 Tufted Duck and a Coot which is unusual.

There was no sign of the Smew today on Wykeham South Lake but there were 3 Shelduck, 6 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, 22 Tufted Duck, 6 Pochard and a Goldeneye.
The Firecrest was still at the Mere, on Potter Brompton Carr there were 2 Egyptian Geese, 37 Lapwing and a Lesser Black-backed Gull (no general access), 29 Pink-footed Geese flew south over Sherburn and 40+ flew north over Leith Rigg.

A very quiet day with a single Waxwing along Taylor Way being the highlight. At Burton Riggs there was a Great Crested Grebe and 6 Goosander flew west, a Mandarin was on the Mere and 2 Little Egret were by Folkton Bridge.

A redhead Smew was found on Wykeham South Lake during the afternoon,the first in Scarborough for over two years, it was favouring the southwest corner, also present there were 3 Great Crested Grebe, 11 Mute Swan, 8 Gadwall, 9 Pochard, 3 Goldeneye, 1 Goosander and 1 Oystercatcher.
The Firecrest was still at the Mere where there were also 3 Gadwall and and 5 Goosander, 5 Goosander, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull and 1 Mediterranean Gull were at Scalby Mills, 2 Common Scoter, 26 Purple Sandpiper and 10 Dunlin were at Boggle Hole, 3 Little Egrets were on Cayton Carr, a Merlin was at Hutton Buscel, a Bar-tailed Godwit, 1 1st winter and 2 adult Little Gulls were in Cayton Bay and Goldcrests were along Scalby Beck and in North Bay.
On the move (south unless stated) were 4 Red-throated Diver + 5 north, 10 Fulmar + 2 north, 8 Gannet + 7 north, 1 Shelduck, 11 Common Scoter, 17 Black-headed Gull, 9 Common Gull, 189 Herring Gull, 4 Great Black-backed Gull and 2 Auk sp + 2 north.

The Firecrest was seen again at the Mere for the first time in a week, also there were 4 Gadwall, 5 Goosander and 6 Bullfinch. The Great Northern Diver was still present in the Harbour, a Red-throated Diver and 3 Shag were off Marine Drive, a Red-throated Diver was in North Bay, 16 Mandarin were at Hackness, at Scalby Mills Wigeon numbers had increased to 680+, the Eider was also still there, a single Goshawk was seen in Langdale Forest but there was no sign of the Great Grey Shrike at Stony Knoll in windy conditions, a Water Rail was seen in Northstead Manor Gardens, 250 Lapwing, 54 Dunlin and 300 Starling were on Cayton Carr, 5 Mediterranean Gulls were at Holbeck, a Goldcrest and a Marsh Tit were in Cornelian Ravine and 4 Lapland Bunting were at Long Nab.
Past Long Nab (south unless stated) were 1 Red-throated Diver + 2 north, 13 Fulmar, 4 Gannet, 12 Cormoran + 11 north, 4 Mute Swan, 2 Common Scoter, 2 Little Gull north then south, 15 Black-headed Gull + 1 north, 30 Common Gull + 1 north, 364 Herring Gull, 48 Great Black-backed Gull and 2 Auk sp + 3 north.
