 A pale male Honey Buzzard was seen again from the Wykeham Forest Raptor Viewpoint around 11am. At Potter Brompton Carr (from Haybridge): 2 Greenshank, 220 Lapwing, 3 juv Curlews, Marsh Harrier, Hobby, and 9 Little Egrets. Elsewhere on the site were a Black-tailed Godwit and Snipe. At East Lake, NY Water Park; 7 Teal, Little Egret, 2 Lbb Gulls, 260 Greylag Geese, and a Great Crested Grebe. A family of Spotted Flycatchers (fledglings) and a Willow Tit near Northstile, Wrench Green. Highlights past Long Nab this morning: Balearic Shearwater, drake Scaup, 530 Common Scoters, 4 Great Crested Grebes, 25 Whimbrel, adult Little Gull, juv Caspian Gull, 23 Arctic Terns, and a Blue Fulmar.

Tuesday 30th July

 10 Golden Plover moved north past Long Nab, a Little Tern feeding offshore for 10 minutes before leaving south, also 9 Whimbrel south. An Eider feeding below the Observatory. Two Turtle Doves in the Malton Cote area. A Willow Tit at Givendale, Dalby, and a family party of Redstarts (3) near Seavy Slack. A Dunlin at the pool at Cromer Point. 20 House Martins over Scalby Mills.

 Wader passage south along the coast this evening included 48 Oystercatchers (plus 30 Scalby Mills), 9 Curlew, and 3 Whimbrel. Two Ravens was over Troutsdale. Two Shelduck, 10 Sandwich Terns at Scalby Mills. A Little Egret at Cayton Carr. Two Eiders flew north at Long Nab. A Hobby at Long Causeway Road, Wykeham.

 A Hobby over Allerston. Four Mediterranean Gulls in South Bay. A Merlin at Ravenscar. Bar-tailed Godwit, 7 Sanderling flew south at Long Nab this evening.

Saturday 27th July

 An adult Rosy Starling was photographed on feeders at Cottage Lane, Osgodby around midday (please do not park or drive down the lane). Two Turtle Doves near Malton Cote, Ebberston. A cc Marsh Harrier and Hobby flew south at Scalby Mills. A Dunlin in Jackson's Bay. At Potter Brompton Carr; 4 Green Sandpipers, Greenshank, 14 Snipe, 15 Little Egrets, Great White Egret, 2 Marsh Harriers, and a Hobby. Some of the water in the scrapes is now visible from Haybridge. The Pink-footed Goose still at Peasholm Park Lake. A juvenile Caspian Gull attended crab boats off Long Nab for c45 minutes this morning then left south. 284 Common Scoter, 3 Arctic Terns flew north there, plus 15 Knot, a Dunlin, and 4 Turnstone south. Eight Mediterranean Gulls in South Bay.

 A cc Marsh Harrier flew high south over Jackson's Bay mid-afternoon. Highlights past Long Nab a.m. were a Common Sandpiper, 115 Sandwich Terns, and Mediterranean Gull. A Honey Buzzard was seen over Broxa Forest.

 At Potter Brompton Carr (not visible from Haybridge); 16 Little Egrets, 184 Lapwing, 3 Green Sandpipers, 3 Greenshank, 2 Snipe, female Marsh Harrier, plus two recently fledged Curlews (raised on site). Two Hobby at Jerry Noddle, Dalby Forest, also 12 Crossbills. 184 Sandwich Terns, 4 Mediterranean Gulls north at Long Nab. 20 Oystercatchers, 8 Redshank, 2 Curlew, 2 Common Terns at Scalby Mills. A Hobby over Pickering. A Little Egret at Johnson's Marsh.

 60+ Curlews at Yons Nab. The Pink-footed Goose still at Peasholm Park lake. An adult Lbb Gull at Scalby Mills with two recently fledged juveniles. 34 Whimbrel, 5 Knot south past Long Nab, 3 Mediterranean Gulls, Bar-tailed Godwit north. Two Dunlin at East Lake and a Cetti's Warbler plus 4 Reed Warblers at Trout Lake, NY Water Park. Six Shoveler at Burton Riggs.

 The Great White Egret was still at Seamer Road Mere. A juvenile Yellow-legged Gull, 2 Arctic Terns and a Sanderling flew north at Long Nab this morning.

Monday 22nd July

 A 2cy Yellow-legged Gull was feeding off Long Nab this morning. Highlights moving past were 7 Little Egrets, 34 Knot, 34 Redshank, Sanderling, Ringed Plover, 6 Whimbrel, 4 Common Terns, 325 Sandwich Terns, 4 Mediterranean Gulls, 8 Arctic Skuas, 1 Great Skua, and a Cuckoo flew south. A Little Egret was in Cayton Bay. The Pink-footed Goose was still at Peasholm Park lake. A male Blackcap in a Stepney Road garden was a sign of summer visitors dispersing. Sunday 21st July

 The Spoonbill was still at Potter Brompton Carr but not visible from Haybridge. Also there were the female Garganey with 3 well grown young, a juv Great Crested Grebe (first site record), 147 Lapwing, 5 Snipe, Green Sandpiper, 11 Little Egrets. A Cetti's Warbler was seen briefly at Burton Riggs. Two Dunlin on a pool towards Cloughton Wyke. A Hobby over Middle Deepdale again. A Liitle Egret, 66 Black-headed Gulls, and a Gbb Gull at East Lake (NY Water Park). The Great White Egret was still at Seamer Road Mere. 3 Whimbrel and an Arctic Tern south past Long Nab, 2 Little Egrets, a Mediterranean Gull, and 3 Snipe flew north.

Saturday 20th July

 Highlights past White Nab this morning included an Avocet and 5 Mediterranean Gulls north. A Little Tern and 2 Great Crested Grebes flew south. South past Long Nab were 41 Whimbrel, 2 Knot plus a Marsh Harrier, 2 Great Crested Grebes, Little Egret and Bar-tailed Godwit north. A Red Kite and Hobby were seen from the Wykeham Forest Raptor Viewpoint. A Spoonbill was at Potter Brompton Carr, also a Great White Egret, 15 Little Egrets, 12 Grey Herons, Wood Sandpiper, 2 Green Sandpipers, Snipe, 60 Lapwing, a new brood of Teal, and a Kingfisher. A Little Egret was feeding in Cayton Bay. A family of Spotted Flycatchers at the bridge at Wrench Green.

Friday 19th July

 A Hobby at Middle Deepdale. Adult Gbb Gull at the council yard on Dean Road, Scarborough. Two Honey Buzzards were reported from the Wykeham Forest Raptor Viewpoint. Highlights past Long Nab included 220 Common Scoter, 5 Whimbrel (+3 south) north, 3 Shoveler, 377 Swifts, 73 Swallows south. At Potter Brompton Carr (grass now cut): a Hobby, 5 Little Egrets, 7 Snipe, Curlew, Oystercatcher, 60 Swifts. A 2cy Yellow-legged Gull was in South Bay.

Thursday 18th July

 Two Whimbrel at Long Nab (one flew south), also 600+ Kittiwakes feeding offshore. A Little Egret at Seamer Tip pool. A Honey Buzzard seen from Wykeham Forest Raptor Viewpoint. A harrier sp flew south at South Bay. A pair of Lbb Gulls feeding a chick at Highfield. 25 Swifts over Gorden Street.

Wednesday 17th July

 A Hobby flew over Brompton Butts. In the Stain Dale / Malton Cote area; 6 Yellow Wagtails, Turtle Dove. At Malton Cote Lane; 4 Turtle Doves, 4 Yellow Wagtails. A Little Egret at Burton Riggs. A Hobby again over Potter Brompton Carr, also present (mostly viewable from Haybridge) were a Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Green Sandpipers, 10 Little Egrets, 2 juv Shelducks, 17 Teal, and a Whimbrel flew over. A Cuckoo at Sneaton Low Moor.

Tuesday 16th July

 An adult Little Gull and 2 Sanderling flew north past Long Nab. 71 Redshank flew south. The Great White Egret still at Seamer Road mere. Two nesting pairs of Little Grebes at Brompton Ponds, both with 1+ chicks. A flock of 54 Common Scoter in Cayton Bay. A Hobby at Potter Brompton Carr. The Pink-footed Goose still at Peasholm Park, three broods of Moorhen there. At East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park; a pair of Great Crested Grebes + 1 chick, 75 Mallard, 5 Shoveler, Common Sandpiper, and 2 Oystercatchers.

Monday 15th July

 The Great White Egret was still at Seamer Road Mere. An adult Little Gull and a 2cy Mediterranean Gull at Lebberston Flash. At Potter Brompton Carr; 3 Green Sandpipers, 2 Redshank, 3 Snipe, 130 Lapwing, 17 Little Egrets, juv Shelduck, 10 Shoveler, 9 Teal, Barn Owl and 300 Starlings. 191 Black-headed Gulls flew north past Long Nab this morning, also 6 Whimbrel past. The Pink-footed Goose was still at Peasholm Park Lake. A Lbb Gull feeding a chick on a house at Highfield, Scarborough.

Sunday 14th July

 The Great White Egret was still at Seamer Road Mere. A Bar-tailed Godwit in Jackson's Bay, where a Hobby flew south. A male Eider at Scalby Mills. A Common Sandpiper at Lebberston Flash. The Wrench Green Spotted Flycatchers have two fledged young.  Highlights past Long Nab included a Velvet Scoter and 2 Bar-tailed Godwits north, 11 Whimbrel south and west. The Pink-footed Goose was still at Peasholm Park lake.

Saturday 13th July

 The Quail was still singing occasionally north of the Observatory at Long Nab. Highlights south past there were 16 Shelducks, Mediterranean Gull, Arctic Skua. North past were 6 Wigeon, 195 Common Scoters, 3 Bar-tailed Godwits. Also 3 Peregrines present, including a young juvenile. The Great White Egret was still at Seamer road Mere. 30 Common Scoter in South Bay this evening. At Potter Brompton Carr: 5 Green Sandpipers, 140 Lapwing, 8 Little Egrets, 250 Starling, 9 Teal, Tufted Duck, Yellow Wagtail, and 95 Swifts. A flock of 20 Common Sandpipers at North Yorkshire Water Park.

Friday 12th July

 Highlights from this morning's seawatch at Long Nab included an early pair of Goldeneye, Mediterranean Gull, Great and Arctic Skua. A singing Grasshopper Warbler at the Water Sports Lake (east side), plus a Common Tern. The Great White Egret was still at Seamer Road Mere, also 2 Gadwall and 5 broods of Tufted Duck (7,7,5,5,2). Seven Curlew flew north over Crossgates mid-afternoon.

Thursday 11th July

 At Potter Brompton Carr (NB most of birds not viewable from Haybridge at the moment); 6 Little Ringed Plover, 3 Green Sandpiper, 2 Curlew, 19 Teal, 11 Little Egrets, and a Kingfisher. A pair of Spotted Flycatchers at Wrench Green. The Great White Egret still at Seamer Road Mere, 4 broods of Coot there. A Whimbrel heard over Eastfield. At flooded fields south of Burniston; 4 Teal, 2 Mandarin, Little Egret, 11 Curlews, 160 Black-headed Gulls. Two Heron nests at Johnson's Marsh both with two young. Two Common Sandpipers, 14 Tufted Duck at Burton Riggs. The Quail still at Long Nab, 7 Wigeon, 46 Teal flew north, 8 Arctic Skuas south. A Greenshank was heard over Middle Deepdale at 11.35pm.

Wednesday 10th July

 The Quail was still occasionally singing at Long Nab. South past there were 3 Whimbrel, 28 Redshank, and Arctic Skua. North were a Mediterranean Gull, 43 Sandwich Terns (many juveniles), and a Great Skua. The Great White Egret was still at Seamer Road Mere, were there were three Tufted Duck broods of 2 + 6 + 7 ducklings. 58 Black-headed Gulls were on flood water near Burniston. Two Wood Sandpipers were still at Potter Brompton Carr, also 3 Green Sandpipers, Hobby, 8 Little Egrets, and an increase in Black-headed Gulls to 45.

Tuesday 9th July

 At Potter Brompton Carr; 3 Wood Sandpipers, 5 Redshank, 4 Common Sandpipers, 3 Green Sandpipers, Snipe, 7 Curlew, LRP, Dunlin, female Garganey with 3 recently hatched ducklings, a recently hatched brood of 6 Shoveler, 60 Starling, and 2 Yellow Wagtails flew west. South past Long Nab were 28 Teal, 77 Manx Shearwaters, 11 Curlew, Whimbrel, 27 Redshank, 3 Dunlin, 2 Arctic Skuas. An adult Mediterranean Gull flew north.

Monday 8th July

 The Quail was still singing at Long Nab, an adult Mediterranean Gull flew north. A Spotted Flycatcher at Wykeham Forest Raptor Viewpoint plus one near Grouse Hill caravan site, also 3 Jay there. Snipe at Jugger Howe Moor. A pair of Lbb Gulls with 2 chicks at Candler Street. At Potter Brompton Carr; 11 Little Egrets, 130 Lapwing (38 juveniles), 2 Oystercatchers, Snipe, 4 Shoveler (3 fledged juveniles), 4 Teal. The Pink-footed Goose was still at Peasholm Park lake. In the Jerry Noddle area of Dalby Forest; 4 Nightjars churring, 2 Woodcocks, 4 Lesser Redpoll.

The Great White Egret was still at Seamer Road Mere, also a juvenile Little Egret there. Another Little Egret at Northstile pool, Wrench Green. The Quail was still at Long Nab, singing two fields north of the obs. A Hobby and Golden Plover flew north there, an Eider in Burniston Bay. A Wood Warbler was singing in Wykeham Forest. An adult Mediterranean Gull and Common Sandpiper were on Black Rocks, South Bay. Four juvenile Stonechats along South Cliff. 25 House Martins, 7 Swift over Barrowcliff. Four Nightjars (3 singing) Harwood Dale Forest. One Nightjar Reasty Top plus two Woodcock.

Saturday 6th July

 The Great White Egret was still at Seamer Road Mere. A singing Quail was in fields to the north of Long Nab Bird Observatory. North past there were 63 Common Scoter (+ 12 south),  a Hobby and an adult Mediterranean Gull. Two nightjars at House Dale Rigg, Dalby Forest.

 Three Turtle Doves near the Mill Inn at Harwood Dale. Five Mandarin and 67 Lapwing at Harwood Dale Lake. A Great White Egret at Seamer Road Mere, 2 broods of Tufted Duck young there. A Yellow Wagtail at East Lake, NY Water Park.

Thursday 4th July

 Potter Brompton Carr held 3 Black-tailed Godwits, single Common and Green Sandpipers, 2 Dunlin, Little Ringed Plover, 12 Little Egrets, 13 Teal, Wigeon, and a Yellow Wagtail. An Osprey was seen from Nabgate at Dalby Forest, also 2 Goshawks and 6 Common Buzzards. A Mandarin and 54 Lapwings at Harwood Dale Lake.

 Five Arctic Skuas, 2 Turnstone, 2 Curlews south past Long Nab this morning. 13 Manx Shearwaters moved north. The Pink-footed Goose was still at Peasholm Park lake. A Hobby moved north over the cliffs at Cloughton Wyke mid-afternoon. A Spotted Flycatcher at Scalby Mills. At North Yorkshire Water Park: 2 pairs of Little Grebes with young at Match Lake, a pair of Mute Swans with 4 cygnets at East Lake. Three Nightjars at Reasty Brow.

Tuesday 2nd July

 Two singing Tree Pipit and a hunting Barn Owl at Wrench Green this morning. A Hobby flew north over Cromer Point. The Pink-footed Goose was still at Peasholm Park. At North Yorkshire Water Park; 3 Curlew and a Snipe flew west, a Little Ringed Plover and Kingfisher at East Lake. At Potter Brompton Carr: a Quail calling, 9 Black-tailed Godwits, Green Sandpiper, 2 Dunlin, 5 LRP (4 ads + 1 juv), 3 Wigeon, juvenile Shoveler, 23 Teal, 15 Little Egrets.

Monday 1st July

 Two Little Ringed Plover and three Great Crested Grebe including one juvenile at East Lake and two broods of Little Grebe and a Moorhen with chick on Match Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park. A Red Kite at Ellerburn and a Turtle Dove on wires at Burniston behind the village hall and Bowling Club. Four Crossbill flew south over Middle Deepdale this morning.
