Friday 23rd October

 2 Richard's Pipits flew north along South Cliff this morning, and a first winter Mediterranean Gull was at Seamer Road Mere. A possible female Velvet Scoter was diving off Jackson's Bay and heading south. Other birds seen along South Cliff this morning include: a Swallow, a House Martin, 202 Meadow Pipits, 166 Chaffinch, 11 Bullfinch, one Twite, 318 Lesser Redpoll, 55 Crossbills and 223 Siskin all heading south, plus a Lapland Bunting heading north. An "eastern" Lesser Whitethroat (blythi or halimodendri race) remains just south of the Ravenscar tea rooms, while 33 Collared Doves were seen in Staintondale. On Castle Hill there were 2 Goldcrests and a Chiffchaff with a tit flock, 6 Redwing flew in off the sea, and a Fieldfare was on Castle Tops.
