Thursday 22nd October

 10 Crossbills and 2 Siskins were seen heading south over Cayton early this morning. A Richard's Pipit was spotted in the stubble field at Long Nab, and heading past southwards were 12 Whooper Swans, 2 Pintail, 69 Common Gulls, 12 Redpolls and 3 House Martins. A  Lesser Whitethroat, probably of the race "Halimodendri", was near the tea rooms in Ravenscar, where there were also 2 Willow Tits, and moving south were 2 Swallows, 30 Skylark, 15 Meadow Pipits, 75 Siskin, 35 Crossbills, 30 Redpolls, 10 Linnets and 2 Fieldfares. 30 Siskins were also seen at Yedmandale Road. There was no sign today of the Dusky Warbler but a Chiffchaff and a Blackcap remained in Cornelian Ravine, and a Willow Warbler and a Yellow-browed Warbler were newly arrived there. Also seen on South Cliff were a Yellow-browed Warbler lingering north of Holbeck, plus 25 Pink-footed Geese, 5 House Martins, 2 Swallows, 69 Lesser Redpoll and a Lapland Bunting flying south. A Great White Egret was at Wykeham Lakes.
