The White-fronted Geese were reported as still present with Pink-footed Geese at Low Marishes (no count received). Four Stonechats at Scalby Lodge. Three Shelducks at Johnson's Marsh. Two Shelduck, 9 Teal, 4 Goldeneye, 50 lapwings, 6 Oystercatchers, Lbb Gull at Wykeham Lakes.

 Twelve White-fronted Geese with 300+ Pink-footed Geese at Low Marishes. A Gadwall with the Wigeon at Scalby Mills. A quiet watch at Long Nab; single Kittiwake south, 58 Guillemots and 11 Razorbills flew north. 21 curlews feeding in the stubble there. Stonechat in North Bay by Oasis cafe. Eleven Curlews Scalby Lodge pond. Three White-fronted Geese at Cloughton town Farm pond. At Potter Brompton Carr: Marsh Harrier, Shelduck, Stonechat and Brambling. At Gristhorpe Bay: 208 Curlew, 59 Oystercatchers, Lbb gull.

Wednesday 26th February

A Black Redstart was in a garden at East Heslerton. A Crossbill was in Raincliffe Woods. Pink-footed Geese were on the move; 417 north at Long Nab and 250 west over Allerston. Also a male Pintail north past Long Nab. Three Mediterranean Gulls were in South Bay. A Great White Egret was on the River Derwent at West Ayton. A Chiffchaff  at Thornton-le-Dale, Barn Owl and Snipe at Thornton Carrs. At Potter Brompton Carr; 2 Pintail, 3 Little and 1 Great White Egret, also Marsh Harrier and Short-eared Owl.

Tuesday 25th February

80 Pink-footed Geese flew north along the coast. Four Grey Partridge in fields at Cayton Bay. A Grey Plover flew south at Long Nab. Five Goldeneye, and the male Pochard still at Seamer Road Mere. A Tawny Owl calling in daylight near East Ayton. 2 Shelducks, Goldeneye, 5 Teal, and a Chiffchaff at Wykeham East Lake. 58 Pink-footed Geese east over Allerston. Five Pink-footed Geese north over Stepney Hill with 16 Greylag Geese.

Monday 24th February

 Two Great Northern Divers flew south past Long Nab this morning. Also two Lbb Gulls flew south plus a few Skylarks and Meadow Pipits. A Cetti's Warbler at the south end of Seamer Road Mere, also a Blackcap by the cafe, and wildfowl counts included 13 Gadwall, a male Pochard, 4 Goldeneye, 46 Tufted Ducks, 6 Little Grebes. Two Shelduck along the coast moving from Johnson's Marsh to the Cloughton area.

 Single Shelduck and Wigeon at Seamer tip pool. 15 Teal on a small pond by the tip bridge. A Shelduck at Johnson's Marsh. A female Goosander at Seamer Road Mere. Past Long Nab were a single Pink-footed Goose, 3 Common Scoter, and 2 Lbb Gulls. Harwood Dale Lake held 49 Wigeon, 3 Goosanders, Redshank, and 2 Oystercatchers.A Dipper at Wrench Green. Great White Egret at  Causeway Lake, Wykeham Lakes.

 No sign of yesterday's Yellow-browed Warbler. Up to six Goshawks were active over Troutsdale this morning. Also two Ravens, 11 Mandarins, 4 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 12 Goldcrests in that area. A female Brambling at Long Causeway Road, Wykeham. 184 Wigeon at Scalby Mills. Little Egret at Brompton Ponds. A Pochard and 12 Tufted Ducks at Burton Riggs. At Low Marishes: 7 Whooper and 25 Mute Swans, 100 Lapwing, 100 Fieldfare, 50 Redwing. Two Shelducks, 12 teal, 2 Oystercatchers at Wykeham East Lake.  Potter Brompton Carr held 2 Great White Egrets, Little Egret, 200 Teal, 2 Marsh Harriers, Snipe, curlew, 300 Lapwing, and a Brambling in the finch flock. An increase in birds moving past Long Nab this morning: Lbb Gull, 52 Lapwing, 2 Curlews, 75 Skylarks, 48 Linnets, 11 Goldfinches and a Reed Bunting.

 A YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER was along Eastgate, Seamer this morning. A Shelduck, and 32 Teal at Johnson's Marsh. Four Gadwall, 2 Wigeon at Burton Riggs. A Great White Egret on the River Derwent ay Ayton Castle. Two Goosanders, 3 Goldeneye, 5 Gadwall, 1 male Pochard at Seamer Road Mere. A Common Scoter, Curlew, 286 Herring Gulls, Skylark (in off sea) south at Long Nab this morning. 50+ Guillemots were feeding offshore there. 500+ Black-headed Gulls feeding between Scalby Rugby Club and Cromer Point. A Red Kite over the A171 just west of Thornton-le-Dale. Three Mediterranean Gulls (2xadults + 1 first-winter) at Holbeck car park.

 The Great Northern Diver was in the harbour mouth this morning. Fifteen Lapwings at Ox Pasture. Seven Red-throated Divers and 30 Guillemots feeding of Long Nab, 102 adult Gannets south there in 90 minutes this morning.

Four Eurasian White-fronted Geese still at Town Farm pond, Cloughton, also 11 Teal, 600 Woodpigeons. 19 Redwing, 2 Mistle Thrush, 3 Lapwing south at Salt Pans Road, Cloughton. Three Goosanders at Harwood Dale Lake. At Wykeham Lakes: 2 Shelduck, 15 Gadwall, 20 Goldeneye, 6 Great Crested Grebes, 10 Coot, 13 Snipe, and 2 Oystercatchers.

 A drake Goosander at Burton Riggs. Great White Egret and Little Egret at Brompton Butts. Eleven Eurasian White-fronted Geese in the field south of Cloughton pond, 10 Wigeon, 16 Redwing by the pond. A pair of Shelduck, Goosander at Harwood Dale Lake. 17 Gadwall, 3 Tufted Ducks, 2 Coot (unusual), 2 Little Grebes at Brompton Ponds. Two Great Northern Divers in the harbour. Two Purple Sandpipers feeding on the flash at Salt Pans Lane, Cloughton. A Velvet Scoter in South Bay off Holbeck, adult Mediterranean Gull off The Spa. Two Willow Tits along the Cinder Track at Hayburn Wyke.

 In excess of 50 Brambling at Ellerburn Bank, Dalby this morning and a drake Goosander at Seamer Tip Pool. A Stonechat at Cromer Point Pond, 15 Redshank, 10 Oystercatcher and five Curlew at Jackson's Bay. A Barn Owl hunting in the area. At Potter Brompton Carr viewed from Haybridge: One Great White Egret, two Little Egret, a cream crown Marsh Harrier, 19 Greylag Geese, two Canada Geese, two Mallard and approximately 400 Lapwing in flight. Three Brambling with the large mixed finch flock. At Johnson's Marsh: One redhead Goosander, one Shelduck, four Wigeon, 15 Teal, four Grey Heron and a Common Buzzard. A Water Rail at Newlands Dale Pond and 12 Crossbill around Wykeham Raptor Viewpoint. At least one Dipper singing on the River Derwent at Wrench Green and three Siskin, one Jay and a Barn Owl in the vicinity. Three Greater White-Fronted Geese again today at Cloughton. Approximately 150 each of Golden Plover and Lapwing today off  Old Wives Way, Saltersgate, plus 30 Fieldfare, two Mistle Thrush, four Little Grebe, two Common Buzzard and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. Perhaps the most notable record today was that of a HUMPBACK WHALE off North Bay this morning, finally moving off south.

 A ring-tailed Hen Harrier flew north over Seamer Tip this morning. Also in the Seamer Tip area; one Great White Egret, one Little Egret, one Water Rail, two Oystercatcher, 94 Canada Geese, 30 Linnet, two Fieldfare and five Redwing. Three Greater White-Fronted Geese remained at Cloughton Pond (Town Farm Pond). Eight Curlew above Old Filey Road, Cayton Bay. A Little Egret, one Grey Wagtail, 42 Yellowhammer and two Reed Bunting at Thornton Carrs. 43 Redwing, 16 Blackbird and 55 Chaffinch on Cinder Track between Burniston and Cloughton. A dead Great Northern Diver in the harbour this morning. The monthly WeBS core count at Peasholm Park lake; 108 Mallard, five Tufted Duck and seven Moorhen. At Potter Brompton Carr: Pink-footed Goose, 3 Shelducks, 5 Shoveler, 69 Wigeon, 2 Pintail, Grey Partridge, 530 Common Gull, 3 Little Egrets, 3 Great White Egrets, Marsh Harrier,

Three Greater White-Fronted Geese were with Greylag Geese on the roadside flash between Cloughton and Burniston, later moving to Cloughton Pond. Two Common Buzzard over Cloughton. A Short-Eared Owl at Seamer Tip and 30 Linnet and 10 Reed Bunting on the eastern side of the tip. A Great White Egret and two Little Egret at Seamer Mead. 16 Redwing in Pasture Lane, Seamer. Monthly WeBS core count highlights at Seamer Road Mere: One Goosander, five Little Grebe, 47 Mallard, 44 Tufted Duck, 18 Gadwall, two Goldeneye, 52 Moorhen, 50 Coot (one sitting in nest) and one Water Rail. Only 13 Mute Swans (lowest winter count at this site). A drake Goosander at Throxenby Mere.

 47 Greater White-Fronted Geese in fields on Saltpans Road, Cloughton, a Stonechat on the muck pile and some 20-30 winter thrushes also present. Two Great Northern Diver in the the harbour again. A Redpoll in a Wrench Green garden, a Kingfisher at the Open Air Theatre and a Grey Wagtail at Scalby Mills.

 Five Stock Dove in a Burniston garden this morning and 17 Gadwall and a Little Egret at Brompton Ponds. A Merlin at Potter Brompton Carr and an unconfirmed report of a Water Pipit on one of the flashes. A Red Kite flew north east over Scalby Beck Road. On the Water Sports Lake at North Yorkshire Water Park, 24 Goldeneye and 25 Siskin. On East Lake; two Shelduck, three Goldeneye, seven Gadwall, three Teal, three Oystercatcher and a Grey Wagtail. Seven Ringed Plover, one Curlew, two Oystercatcher and a Grey Heron at Scalby Mills.

 A Red Kite flew north low over Burniston at 0910hrs and two Bar-Tailed Godwits were again on a field near to the surf shop at Cayton Bay. A Great Northern Diver was again in the harbour. A Peregrine flew south west over Burton Riggs and two Wigeon present there.

 36 Siskin visited a Burniston garden briefly before leaving NW. 5 Redpoll and 58 Goldfinch also visited  briefly before leaving. Three Goosander flew north close in at Scalby Mills and 26 Oystercatcher were in Jackson's Bay at high tide. A pair of Common Buzzard over Oliver's Mount.

 A Great Northern Diver in the harbour this morning. Two Turnstone and a Rock Pipit on West Pier. Four Tufted Duck on Cloughton Pond. Two Greater White-Fronted Geese, two Wigeon, 26 Greylag Geese, two Canada Geese and approximately 200 Wood Pigeon on Saltpans Road flashes, Cloughton. 46 Fulmar on cliffs at Cloughton Wyke and a passage of Gannet noted, 50 in 10 minutes off Cloughton Wyke. Two Red-Throated Diver on the sea and approximately 35 Redwing near Fields Farm. Skylarks in song in the area. Two Raven, 15 Siskin and six Song Thrush at Hilla Green/Troutsdale area. Two Goosander, six Lapwing, 69 Wigeon, 30 Teal, 30 Canada Geese and two Common Snipe at Harwood Dale lake. A drake Goosander and a drake Common Scoter on the sea in North Bay. Eight Oystercatcher, nine Ringed Plover, five Redshank and a Curlew at Scalby Mills. A Shelduck and Oystercatcher at the small pond near Seamer Tip and 10 Siskin and an Oystercatcher at Burton Riggs.

 Two Great Northern Divers showed well in the harbour this morning. Five Redpoll, three Greenfinch, 10 Goldfinch and a Siskin in a Burniston garden. 38 Curlew in a field west of Scalby Road, Burniston and c30 Oystercatcher on Northstead School playing field. A flock of in excess of 500 birds at Ellerburn Bank, Dalby, including 300+ Chaffinch, 100+ Goldfinch and Brambling, Greenfinch, Bulfinch and Crossbill. Two Shelduck, one Oystercatcher and six Teal at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park and two Oystercatcher on the Water Sports Lake. At Harwood Dale Lake: 15 Greater White-Fronted Geese, 11 Pink-Footed Geese, two Shelduck, three Goosander, 47 Wigeon, 10 Teal, one Redshank, one Common Snipe, eight Lapwing and approximately 80 Linnet.

 A Dipper on the beck alongside the A170 at Thornton le Dale this morning. 19 Curlew in a cereal field above Cayton Bay and a Marsh Tit and six Great Tits visiting the Burton Riggs feeding station. Treecreeper, Nuthatch, Song Thrush and Goldcrest Woodlands Ravine. Four Marsh Tit and two Common Buzzard at Raincliffe Woods and Kingfisher at Throxenby Mere.

 A Great White Egret and Little Egret at Brompton Butts this morning and the long staying drake Goosander at Peasholm Park lake. A drake Goosander also in North Bay. A moulting adult Mediterranean Gull, female Goosander and two Goldeneye at Seamer Road Mere. A returning pair of Collared Doves at the East Ayton Hotel. A good number of singing Song Thrushes this morning. Four Stock Doves in a Burniston garden.  Two Grey Wagtail, a Pied Wagtail, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Skylark and Lapwing at Ox Pasture.

 140 Redshank, 39 Purple Sandpiper, seven Turnstone, one Knot, 11 Oystercatcher and seven Curlew at Yons Nab wader roost this morning. Single Great White Egret and Little Egret and five Grey Partridge at Star Carr. At Broxa: three Goshawk, eight plus Common Buzzard, three Crossbill and a flock of Redwing and Fieldfare. In fields between West Ayton and North Yorkshire Water Park: seven Tree Sparrow, 11 Yellowhammer, five Grey Partridge and four singing Skylark. Four singing Skylark also above Ox Pasture fields. A Great Northern Diver north past Long Nab with a slight increase in Gannet movement. At East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park: Pair of Shelduck, 36 Teal, 25 Mallard, two Goldeneye, four Great Crested Grebe, four Moorhen, c120 Black-Headed Gull, 23 Common Gull and five Great Black-Backed Gull.

 The long staying Red-Necked Grebe at the Water Sports Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park and a Water Rail also present. A Short-Eared Owl in conflict with a Kestrel at Cayton Bay this afternoon. Three Dippers on the River Derwent at Wrench Green and a pair of Mandarin on the pond. A Shelduck flew south off Cloughton Pond. In the Scalby Mills area today: One Whimbrel near to Scalby Lodge Pond, nine Curlew, six Redshank, 36 Oystercatcher, one Grey Heron and 31 Wigeon. Several Song Thrushes in song in the town. Kingfishers today at Thornton-le-Dale and Throxenby Mere.

 A Water Rail and Common Snipe at the scrape at Long Nab and two Lapwing in the stubble field there. Nine Gannet south offshore. Good numbers of singing Crossbills in Langdale Forest. A Barn Owl at Long Causeway, approximately 200 Lapwing on flooded fields adjacent to the A64 at Staxton opposite Stockdales and a flock of over 400 Wood Pigeon over Jacob's Mount. The Red-Necked Grebe on the Water Sports Lake at North Yorkshire Water Park along with a Great White Egret, two Shelduck, 16 Goldeneye, five Little Grebe, three Great Crested Grebe and two Gadwall. 15 Crossbill and three Common  Buzzard at Wykeham Raptor Viewpoint, plus Willow Tit, Dipper and good numbers of Crossbill at Dalby Forest. 20+ Crossbill,, with several singing, and a pair of Willow Tit at Penny Howe, Harwood Dale Forest. At Broxa Forest this morning: approximately 10 Crossbills, seven Siskin, one Marsh Tit, 17 Coal Tit and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. At Potter Brompton Carr north of Hay Bridge this afternoon: One Stonechat, three Grey Partridge, one Barn Owl, one Little Egret, 30 Lapwing, 60 Teal, c250 Starling, five Redwing and one Great Spotted Woodpecker. Two Marsh Tit and c20 Tree Sparrow at the feeders being the highlights.
