 Two Great Northern Divers in South Bay this morning, one moving to North Bay this afternoon. Also in South Bay/off Marine Drive; 12 Common Scoters, 2 Eiders, 2 Red-throated Divers, Guillemot. An Egyptian Goose flew south past Marine Drive mid-afternoon, also seen flying past Cayton Bay. Three Whooper Swans also flew south at Cayton Bay. The high tide wader roost at Gristhorpe Bay had some impressive counts; 380 Curlew, 61 Oystercatchers, 57 Redshank, 60 Purple Sandpipers, 35 Turnstone, Snipe, 6 Golden Plovers, 32 Lapwing. A cream crown Marsh Harrier at Cayton Carr. A Willow Tit at the Cinder Track at Hayburn Wyke. At Seamer tip pool/Taylor Way; 24 Gadwall, 9 Mute Swans, 5 Tufted Duck, 340 Lapwing, 3 Snipe, 3 Curlew, 2 Little Egrets, 13 Grey Partridge, 4 Kestrels, and 26 Magpies. Six Snow Buntings at Long Nab. Four Fulmars were on Castle Cliffs this morning.

 A Slavonian Grebe feeding amongst 15 Common Scoters in Cayton Bay early afternoon. A Brambling at High Staindale, Dalby Forest. 24 Barnacle Geese flew south past Long Nab, an adult Little Gull flew north. Just 3 Snow Buntings in the stubble field there. A male Blackcap in a Cayton garden. 20 Fieldfare, 90 Redwing at south-east end of Wykeham Forest, also 3 Crossbills on the forest edge. Five Bullfinches at Seamer Road Mere. Two Red-throated Divers in North Bay.

 A Slavonian Grebe, 2 Great Northern Divers, 6 Red-throated Divers, Little Auk, Puffin, Common Scoter, Red-breasted Merganser in South Bay. A Purple Sandpiper with the Turnstones at the harbour. Off Marine Drive were 7 Common Scoters, Eider, 2 Great Crested Grebes, and 6 Red-throated Divers. An adult Mediterranean Gull roosting in South Bay this evening. Two Little Egrets and a Kingfisher at Thornton le Dale Water treatment plant. The Dipper still in Peasholm Glen. 26 Snow Buntings, 10 Rock Pipits at Long Nab. Highlights past were 2 Great Northern Divers, Puffin, Little Auk, and 8 Little Gulls. The Kingfisher still at the Open Air Theatre.

 The Red-necked Grebe remains at Wykeham East Lake, a Chiffchaff at the lakes complex at Long Causeway. A Puffin, 5 Guillemots, 4 Red-throated Divers and one Great Northern Diver off Marine Drive. The Dipper was at Peasholm Glen, Kingfishers at the Open Air Theatre and Scalby Mills. Two Little Egrets at Folkton Water Treatment works. A Chiffchaff at Burton Riggs. A Short-eared Owl and 18 Snow Buntings at Long Nab, a dusk roost movement of 26 Pied Wagtails in the direction of Cromer Point Water Treatment works. At Jerry Noddle/Dalby area; 25 Crossbills, 60 Siskins and 30 Lesser Redpolls. A redhead Goosander at Seamer Road Mere.

 The Red-necked Grebe still at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park along with six Great crested Grebe, six Little Grebe, four Goldeneye, four Wigeon, 11 Gadwall, seven Siskin and a Marsh Tit. Four Little Grebe, three Marsh Tit and five Bullfinch around the Trout Lake. A Red Kite flew west at 1048hrs at Long Causeway, Wykeham. 20 Redwing and a Fieldfare present. A Dipper in Peasholm Glen.  A Shoveler, Goldeneye, redhead Goosander, seven Little Grebe and Marsh Tit at Seamer Road Mere. A Hooded Crow flew west low over Schneider Electric, Cayton Low Road, Eastfield at 1340hrs with other corvids. A Green Sandpiper and three Grey Wagtails at Thornton Carrs.

 A Red-throated Diver in the harbour this morning and another off Marine Drive. A Woodcock, approximately 60 Mallard and eight Teal at the small pond near Seamer Tip bridge. A Great White Egret and 11 Little Egret by Folkton Water Treatment Works. A Goosander and two Goldeneye at Seamer Road Mere and a total of five Willow Tits between Cockrah Foot, Wrench Green and Northstile House. At Low Marishes this afternoon: 150 Greylag Geese, 80 Canada Geese, two Mallard, 600 Golden Plover, 530 Lapwing, a Grey Heron, three Sparrowhawk, two Common Buzzard, one Kestrel, 300 Starling, 20 Redwing and 50 Fieldfare. The Red-necked Grebe at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park along with three Great crested Grebe, nine Teal, 19 Tufted Duck and 12 Goldeneye. Three Great crested Grebe, nine Little Grebe, seven Tufted Duck and six Goldeneye on the Water Sports Lake. Six Redpoll and 20 Siskin near the climbing wall.  A Little Auk was in the harbour this morning and six Gadwall at Burton Riggs. An unconfirmed report of 15 Waxwings this morning flying from Newlands to Burniston Road.

Friday 22nd November

Single Little Auks flew north past Cayton and Marine Drive and at least one Little Auk was on the sea between lamp post 58 and the harbour. A Great Northern Diver and three Red-throated Diver were also off Marine Drive. A Kingfisher frequented the harbour. A Short -eared Owl was over the first field north of Scalby Lodge pond and 25 Golden Plover and 12 Curlew were to the south of Cromer Point pond. An adult Mediterranean Gull at Scalby Mills. 25 Fieldfare were on fields between West Ayton and Wykeham and a Tawny Owl in the area.

 A single Little Auk flew north past Marine Drive. At Burton Riggs: Single Redshank, Jack Snipe and Common Snipe, Wigeon, three Teal, approximately 40 Mallard, two Little Grebe, Grey Heron and five Cormorant. A Short-eared Owl flew north along the cliffs at Jackson's Bay. Three Mallard and three Teal were on the sea near the harbour. A Willow Tit and two Marsh Tit near the entrance barriers at Dalby Haygate.

Wednesday 20th November

 A Black-throated Diver was on the Water Sports Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park briefly before heading off west as a result of possible boat disturbance. Also present were a Greater Scaup, Goosander, 34 Gadwall, 10 Goldeneye, six Wigeon, 12 Mute Swan, a Jack Snipe on the peninsular and two Stonechat. The Red-necked Grebe at East Lake along with a Common Snipe. Five Little Auk, two Red-breasted Merganser and a Teal flew north off Marine Drive this afternoon. A Kingfisher was in Peasholm Glen and 26 Snow Buntings again in the stubble field at Long Nab. Good numbers of Meadow Pipit, Skylark and Yellowhammer in the Cloughton and Long Nab areas during the morning blizzards.

 A Little Auk flew north past Long Nab and 26 Snow Buntings were in the stubble field there. The Red-necked Grebe at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park and two Red-throated Diver were in the harbour. Sparrowhawks were noted at Cloughton and Burniston. A Brambling visited a garden feeder at Heron Lane, Crossgates. Two Siskin, 23 Long tailed Tits and approximately 40 Goldfinches at Burton Riggs.

 The Red-necked Grebe still at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park. Also there, female Greater Scaup, seven Gadwall, 20 Teal, 22 Cormorant, two Green Sandpipers, 20 Great black-backed Gull and four Bullfinch. Four Goldeneye, a further 10 Gadwall and two Cormorant at the Water Sports Lake and two Redpoll and two Stonechat south of the lake. Three Goosanders still at Burton Riggs with Treecreeper and two Goldcrest also present. 50 Greylag Geese, nine Wigeon, eight Mallard and six Moorhen at Cloughton Pond. Redwing, Pied Wagtail and Bullfinch in the area. Highlights of the monthly WeBS core count at Seamer Road Mere: Single Goosander, 24 Gadwall, 36 Tufted Tuck, 49 Mallard, 84 Moorhen, 62 Coot and six Little Grebe. Four Raven, one Goshawk and five Crossbill at Troutsdale SW of Raptor Viewpoint. An unspecified number of Snow Buntings still at Long Nab stubble field and single Chiffchaffs were at Burton Riggs and in a Burniston garden. A Great White Egret and a Little Egret at Brompton Butts and ponds. Two Mistle Thrush Brompton churchyard. At Wilton Heights/Low Marishes, approximately 650 Pink-footed Geese, 71 Skylark and 19 Linnets. A few Fieldfare and Redwing also present.

 26 Snow Buntings remain the stubble field at Long Nab. A Greater White-fronted Goose and three drake Goosanders at Burton Riggs. A Great Northern Diver distant from Castle Point and a Red-throated Diver near the harbour. A redhead Goosander was still at Seamer Road Mere. Highlights from the monthly WeBS count at North Yorkshire Water Park this morning: Red-necked Grebe still on East Lake along with a Green Sandpiper and Kingfisher. Three Goldeneye, 48 Gadwall, 21 Moorhen, 17 Coot and a Water Rail on the complex. Approximately 300 Starlings on the ploughed field south of the Water Sports Lake. 106 Wigeon and a Purple Sandpiper at Scalby Mills and 130 Pink-footed Geese (100N, 30S) over Hutton Buscel.

 Five Greater White-fronted Geese, three Great White Egret, 15 Common Snipe, 174 fly over Golden Plover, eight Shoveler and two Pintail at Potter Brompton Carr. Three Red-throated Diver in South Bay and around the harbour and the drake Pochard still at Peasholm Park Lake. Four drake Eider north past Marine Drive and a Woodcock in off the sea at South Bay. 20+ Snow Bunting remain in Long Nab stubble field and a Dipper was at Scalby Mills. The Red-necked Grebe as at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park with a Green Sandpiper and five Common Snipe. At Dalby Haygate circuit this afternoon, a vocal Raven, a Willow Tit, three Marsh Tit and 11 Crossbill. A late Arctic Tern south past Scalby Mills.

 The Red-necked Grebe was again on East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park, along with 26 Teal and a Dunlin. 26 Snow Bunting and a Lapland Bunting again on Long Nab stubble field. Two Red-throated Divers in the harbour and a Great Northern Diver at Scalby Mills. A drake Pochard still at Peasholm Park Lake along with 111 Mallard, a Little Grebe and 15 Moorhen. A Kingfisher again at the Open Air Theatre. Two Dipper, three Mandarin Duck and 20 Siskin at Troutsdale. A Tawny Owl calling this evening by the Castle. A Puffin was off Cornelian. Three Velvet Scoter south and 11 Purple Sandpipers north past Marine Drive.

Eight Meadow Pipits on the motorcycle track near Seamer Tip and nine Pink-footed Geese east. 1+ first winter female Greater Scaup, two Green Sandpipers, 24 Lapwing, four Great Crested Grebe, 14 Cormorant, 40 Common Gull, five Redpoll and 16 Siskin at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park. Two Grey Wagtails in the car park. At Low Marishes: c500 Pink-footed Geese, Little Egret, c100 Fieldfare and 50 Redwing at Thornton Carrs. Two Whooper Swan at Yedingham. A single Purple Sandpiper at the harbour high tide roost. Sparrowhawk at Cayton.

 A Red throated Diver near the harbour, three Kingfishers at Hilla Green  and a Kingfisher at Scalby Mills. The Pochard remained at Burton Riggs  as did the drake at Peasholm Park, and the redhead Goosander, six Gadwall, seven Little Grebe and a Redpoll were at Seamer Road Mere. The Red-necked Grebe again at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park with 17 Lapwings, 24 Gadwall, 11 Teal and 12 + Tufted Duck. Five Goldeneye and five Gadwall on the Water Sports Lake there.  Highlights from Potter Brompton Carr: four Great White Egret, five Little Egret, 140 Lapwing, four Dunlin, Jack Snipe, three Water Rail, Cetti's Warbler and 52 Reed Bunting.

 28 Snow Buntings still at Long Nab and a white collar ringed Pink-footed Goose bearing the number X79. This individual was ringed as an adult female on 5th May 2015 at Skogn in Norway. This is the first UK sighting following 73 previous sightings in predominantly Denmark and Norway. A Great White Egret and approximately 350 Pink-footed Geese at Potter Brompton Carr. A drake Pochard still at Peasholm Park Lake and a redhead Goosander at Seamer Road Mere. A Black-throated Diver and three Great Northern Divers (2S, 1N) past South Cliff and two adult Mediterranean Gulls south past Long Nab. A Kingfisher at The Open Air Theatre and a Redshank in the outer harbour. Six Tundra Bean Geese and four adult Greater White-Fronted Geese at Potter Brompton Carr departed west at 1515hrs.

 Now 28 Snow Buntings and a single Lapland Bunting at Long Nab stubble field between Obs and car Park and a Short eared Owl nearby. Whooper Swans evident today: 29 east over Low Marishes, three north at Yedingham and 10, including six juveniles at Thornton Carrs.160 Pink-footed Geese also east over Low Marishes. The Red-necked Grebe, eight Common Snipe, 13 Teal, four Gadwall and two Wigeon at East Lake, North Yorkshire Water Park. Eight Gadwall, six Tufted Duck, one Teal and a Little Egret at Brompton Ponds. A Pochard at Burton Riggs and eight Mallard over with a Wigeon. Siskin and Redwing present. A Red-throated Diver in the harbour area. Two plus Goshawk over Wykeham Forest this morning. The drake Pochard still at Peasholm Park lake and Kingfisher at the Open Air Theatre.

  The Snow Bunting flock at Long Nab stubble field had increased threefold to 23 this morning. A Lapland Bunting still present. Passing Long Nab this morning were 200 Pink-footed Geese, a Goldeneye, seven Great Northern Divers (including three together), a Mediterranean Gull, a flava Wagtail and a Brambling. Two Goldeneye and four Common Scoter flew south past Scalby Mills and a redhead Goosander was in North Bay. A Red-throated Diver and five Turnstones at the harbour. Single Pochard were at Peasholm Park lake and Burton Riggs. 12 plus Crossbills, three singing, were above Wrench Green and a Goldcrest unseasonably singing in a garden there. A cream crown Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk, Common Buzzard and male Goldeneye were at East Lake, North Yorkshire Park. A Great Northern Diver was between Holbeck and Cornelian and three Shoveler were at Johnson's Marsh.

 A female/immature Velvet Scoter was off Yons Nab this morning, also 4 Puffins, 7 Grey Partridge there. A Knot in Cayton Bay. A drake Shoveler with the Wigeon at Scalby Mills. A female Shoveler with the Teal at Johnson's Marsh. The Lapland Bunting and 7 Snow Buntings were still in stubble at Long Nab. Highlights past there included 6 Shelducks, a Pochard, 2 Shoveler, and an Arctic Tern. A Puffin was feeding offshore. Two Snow Buntings were showing well by the Sealife Centre at Scalby Mills early afternoon. At Potter Brompton Carr; pintail, Merlin, 2 Marsh Harriers, a Great White Egret, and a Twite flew over NW.

 Seven Snow Buntings in the stubble field west of Long Nab Bird Observatory. Highlights moving past were a Dark-bellied Brent Goose, 25 Whooper Swans, Goosander, Arctic Tern, and Sandwich Tern. A Chiffchaff was with the tit flock on the south side of Castle Hill. 64 Mallard at Thornton le Dale. Kingfisher at the Open Air Theatre. At Seamer Road Mere; redhead Goosander, Shoveler, 3 Gadwall, 8 Little Grebes. No sign of the Red-necked Grebe at Wykeham East Lake, 10 Whooper Swans, 8 Gadwall, 7 Teal there.  One Lapland Bunting was still in the stubble field at Long Nab, an adult breeding plumage Great Northern Diver flew north there. The Red-necked Grebe was still at Wykeham East Lake, also there 2 Gadwall, 12 Teal, Water Rail, and to the east 210 Pink-footed Geese and 200 Lapwing. The Water Sports Lake held one Whooper Swan, 8 Mute Swans, 6 Goldeneye, 2 Pochard, and 6 Siskins. 52 Crossbills, 8 Fieldfare, and a Stonechat in Langdale Forest. 11 Crossbills in the Adderstones area of Dalby Forest.

 A Little Auk was seen off East Pier mid-afternoon, and later at 16.05 hrs flew out east. Six Snow Buntings were in the stubble field by Long Nab Bird Observatory, also a Jack Snipe there left west. Two Whooper Swans flew south, a Sandwich Tern and 19 Eiders flew north. What was presumably the same Sandwich Tern was on rocks at Scalby Mills early afternoon. 2000+ Pink-footed Geese feeding in the carrs west of Seamer. A Little Egret near Flixton. Three Pochard, 5 Tufted Ducks at Burton Riggs.

 Five Snow Buntings at Long Nab in the stubble field just west of the observatory. Highlights past there were a Great Crested Grebe, 2 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, Red-breasted Merganser, 9 Eiders, plus 2 Little Gulls. A Water Rail was heard at the scrape.  120 Wigeon at Scalby Mills. A drake Goosander over Crossgates, Wigeon at Burton Riggs. A female Merlin and Stonechat at Jugger Howe Moor.

 A Chiffchaff at Heron Lane, Crossgates. Blackcaps in gardens at Stepney and Scalby. A Shoveler at Johnson's Marsh. A Great White Egret at Brompton Ponds, also Goosander, 6 Tufted Ducks, 4 Gadwall, 4 Little Grebes and 32 Redwing over. The Red-necked Grebe was still at Wykeham East Lake, also around the complex were 500 Pink-footed Geese (flew east), 23 Teal, 5 Wigeon, 7 Gadwall, 11 Tufted Ducks, 5 Pochard, 10 Goldeneye,3 Redwing and 5 Siskins. Nine Whooper Swans past Long Nab and Marine Drive. Goosander, 8 Little Grebes, 6 Gadwall Seamer Road Mere. Five Great White Egrets in the Folkton/Flixton Carr area.  Highlights past Long Nab were a Long-tailed Duck, 27 Eiders, 3 Great Northern Divers, Puffin (+ 1 imm on sea), 8 Dunlin, Woodcock (in off sea), and 38 Yellowhammers in the stubble. A female/immature Scaup, Velvet Scoter, and 20 Common Scoter in Cornelian Bay.

 A Little Auk was seen off the harbour mouth this morning before flying south, also a Great Northern Diver there, and a Red-throated Diver in the harbour. 20 Whooper Swans flew east at Cayton Carr. Two Great White Egrets at North Street, Flixton. 100+ Siskins, 45 Redwings, Fieldfare, 2 Willow and 4 Marsh Tits at Northstile, Wrench Green. 50 Pink-footed Geese south over Cayton. Five Pochard at Seamer Road Mere. A Woodcock flew in off the sea at Cayton Bay. The first-winter Red-necked Grebe was still on Wykeham East Lake this afternoon, also at the lakes complex were 4 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Goldeneye, 5 Dunlin, Curlew, 90 Lapwings, 3 Lbb Gulls, and 1100 Starlings. A Marsh Harrier at the west side of the lakes from Long Causeway Road. 115 Wigeon at Scalby Mills. 40 Siskins at Thornton le Dale, 90 ay Low Dalby/Ellerburn, also 54 Crossbills and a Willow Tit. Highlights past Long Nab this morning were 52 Shelduck, 635 Wigeon, 512 Common Scoter, 3 Velvet Scoters, 51 Eider, 9 Goldeneye, Black-throated Diver, and 3 Great Northern Divers. 5 Marsh Harriers, 3 Great White Egrets, 180 Teal, adult male Merlin, and 80 Fieldfare flew west.

 A first-winter Red-necked Grebe was at Wykeham East Lake late afternoon, also a Dunlin, 19 Gbb Gulls, 1 Lbb Gull and a pre-roost gathering of 1400+ Jackdaws at East Lake. Ten Goldeneye and a Snipe at the Water Sports Lake. Two Lapland Buntings were in the stubble field by the car park at Long Nab, a Snow Bunting, and 2 Twite flew south. Past at sea were 12 species of duck including a Scaup, Pintail, 3 Velvet Scoter, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers, 2 Goosanders, 13 Goldeneye, also 4 Great Northern Divers, 2 Arctic Terns, 6 Whooper Swans, Manx Shearwater, and a Puffin feeding offshore. 125 Pink-footed Geese flew north over Cloughton, four Siskins in stubble east of the village. A Tawny Owl calling this evening between Tesco and Valley Road. 55 Pink-footed Geese flew NW over Stepney Road, and 60 NW over Crossgates. Eight Velvet Scoter flew south past Marine Drive. Eight Redwing west over Falsgrave Park, 2 Nuthatch, and 6 Goldcrests there. Gristhorpe bay at high tide: 152 curlew, 72 Redshank, 71 Oystercatchers, 5 Purple Sandpipers, 8 Turnstone, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, Little Egret, and 12 Grey Herons.

Friday 1st November

 A Yellow-browed Warbler was at Crossgates this afternoon, frequenting the Heron Lane - Seamer station area. 104 Wigeon at Scalby Mills. Two Hawfinches flew over The Sixth Form College towards Falsgrave mid-afternoon. A Woodcock at Cockrah Wood. A Raven flew north over Cromer Point, being seen later circling Long Nab northwards. The latter site had 6 Whooper Swans, a Sandwich Tern, and 7 Twite moving south. A Velvet Scoter flew north. At Wykeham Lakes a redhead Goosander and 2 Whooper Swans were on the Watersports Lake, 17 Cormorants, 3 Green Sandpipers, 3 Lapwing, 34 Teal, 17 Gadwall, 6 tufted Ducks, 2 Great Crested Grebes, Tawny Owl and 2 Jays at East Lake. A Red Kite flew SW over the A64 at Seamer Carr. 30 Greylag Geese at Cloughton Pond, 2 Wigeon at Newlands Dale pond.
