Saturday 19th October 2013

The highlights of the day were the continued presence of the Siberain Stonechat at Scalby Nab where there was also a report of a Pallas's Warbler and a Bittern flushed from Brambles along South Cliff which flew north and appeared to go down north of Holbeck.
Other migrants seen between Ravenscar and South Cliff were 19 Skylark, 20 Meadow Pipit, 1 Grey Wagtail, 25 Robin, 1 Wheatear, 69 Blackbird, 14 Song Thrush, 31 Redwing, 3 Fieldfare, 1 Blackcap, 3 Chiffchaff, 12 Goldcrest, 15 Brambling, 6 Siskin, 7 Crossbill (5 Long Nab, 2 Valley Road) and 5 Reed Bunting.
On the move (south unless stated) were 2 Great Northern Diver, 50 Pink-footed Geese east, 38 Wigeon north, 50 Teal north, 46 Common Scoter north, 12 Lapwing in and west, 2 Skylark in and west, 8 Meadow Pipit, 2 Rock Pipit, 23 Blackbird in, 64 Starling in and 1 Reed Bunting in.
Elsewhere 2 Red-breasted Merganser were on the Mere, a Great Crested Grebe was in the Harbour and 52 Wigeon were at Scalby Mills.
