Thursday 10th October 2013

A very wild day produced some interest over the sea but limited birding elsewhere.
On the move (north unless stated) were 2 Red-throated Diver + 2 south, 59 Gannet + 23 south, 73 Sooty Shearwater, 9 Manx Shearwater, 1 Cormorant + 2 south, 1 Barnacle Goose south, 3 Pale-bellied Brent Geese, 2 Pintail, 7 Teal, 7 Wigeon, 1 Aythya sp south, 45 Common Scoter + 22 south, 2 Velvet Scoter, 1 Goldeneye south, 4 Oystercatcher south, 1 Dunlin, 8 Great Skua + 4 south, 3 Arctic Skua south, 91 Black-headed Gull south, 23 Common Gull south and 11 Kittiwake + 1 south.
Also seen were the autumns first 4 Whooper Swans at Wykeham South Lake along with 4 Egyptian Geese and 52 Lapwing and 150 Pink-footed Geese were by the Quarry entrance.
