The Slavonian Grebe was again in South Bay today, while a Red-necked Grebe flew south past Long Nab and later through South Cliff. Also seen in South Bay were 4 Scaup which flew off south, a first-winter Sandwich Tern, and a pair of Red-breasted Mergansers close in off the Holbeck landslip. Along South Cliff a Woodcock flew in off the sea, a new Chiffchaff had arrived, and the Mealy Redpoll was again in Holbeck Ravine. Two large flocks of Common Scoter (100+) landed about half a mile out at the southern end of Cayton Bay. A pair of Stonechats were at Cromer Point, and a Little Owl was seen on Rocks Lane in Burniston. 2 Teal, 5 Goldeneye and a Chiffchaff were at Seamer Road Mere, and a Great Northern Diver was off the skate park in North Bay. At Long Nab there were again 2 Lapland Buntings in the stubble field, while 3 Woodcocks were in the ringing plantation. 6+ Goldcrests were seen feeding together in conifers in Woodlands Cemetery, a Chiffchaff was on the north side of Castle Hill, and 3 Shag were off Marine Drive.
