Monday 26th November

A Waxwing was seen in Halfords car park early morning but has not been spotted since. Highlights at Seamer Road Mere included 7 Little Grebe, Teal, 44 Tufted Duck, 4 Goldeneye, a Blackcap, at least 4 Chiffchaffs a drake Goosander and a Kingfisher. In addition, a Hume's Warbler was heard calling several times but was not seen. At Wykeham South Lake this morning a Peregrine was seen hunting Fieldfares. There also, were 150 Lapwings, 43+ Gadwall, 26 Wigeon, 6 Pochard, 2 Shoveler, 6 Goldeneye, 26 Tufted Duck and a Buzzard. In the afternoon 4 White-fronted Geese flew overhead southwards, while a Great White Egret, a drake Scaup, a Green Sandpiper, 3 Egyptian Geese and a Dunlin were present. The Lapwing count had risen to 300. In the Long Nab area this morning there were a White-fronted Goose, a Tundra Bean Goose and a Bark-bellied Brent Goose feeding in fields. 2 Great Northern Divers and 3 Little Gulls flew past Long Nab. In the Crosscliffe area of Dalby Forest 51 Common Crossbills were spotted, plus 3 Willow Tits and 5 Jays. An adult and 3 juvenile Whooper Swans were seen on the carrs at Lingholm Court estate, and another 6 adults and 5 juveniles in the field next to this. 72 Teal were on Johnson's Marsh and a Great White Egret flew over Burniston towards there.
