Friday 2nd November

Today's big excitement at Long Nab was a Rough-legged Buzzard circling out at sea. Other highlights there were 75 Little Gulls and 2 Little Auks all heading north, and 2 Snow Buntings on the Cleveland Way footpath south of the observation hut. Elsewhere there were 30 Golden Plover at Folkton Carr, a Water Rail at Seamer Tip, 5 Mediterranean Gulls at Holbeck, and an Eider remains at Scalby Mills together with 3 Purple Sandpipers. Wykeham South Lake had 5 Goldeneye, 4 Little Grebes, 17 Gadwall, and now over 600 Greylags! A Green Sandpiper flew over North Lane and 14 Pink-footed Geese flew south-east over Starr Carr. In the late afternoon a Brambling, a Grey Wagtail, a Kingfisher, a Marsh Tit, 6 Nuthatches and good numbers of Siskin and Redwing were reported from Ellerburn.
