Friday 3rd April

A Blackcap was singing on the footpath to Morrison's, near the road bridge, early this morning. A Sand Martin was seen on the cliffs above Jackson's Bay, and one was also seen flying south past Long Nab, as was a Goosander. The Wigeon flock at Scalby Mills is now down to just 8 birds. A Buzzard flew north over Deepdale near college Lane, a pair of Eiders were on the sea off Marine Drive, and 4 Peregrines were in a flying battle over the Castle Headland. A female Common Scoter was close in in South Bay, and a Reed Bunting was in the reeds at the Open Air Theatre. Recorded over Peasholm last night were: 6 Common Scoter flocks, a Wigeon flock, Mallard, Moorhen and Water Rail. There were 9 Redwing calls and one Blackbird call.
