Migration watch; 06.30 – 12.25hrs.
On the move (south unless stated) were 2 Red-throated Diver, 1 Golden Plover, 1 Grey Plover, 3 Ringed Plover, 1 Snipe, 6 Dunlin, 7 Skylark, 8 Swallow, 2 House Martin, 8 Grey Wagtail, 1 Alba, 226 Meadow Pipit, 3 Chaffinch, 17 Linnet, 12 Redpoll sp, 40 Siskin, 1 Reed Bunting and 2 Lapland Bunting, one of which came in off.
Present there was the drake Mandarin, 7 Chiffchaff, 5 Yellow-browed Warbler (4 new) 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 8 Goldcrest, 8 Song Thrush and 1 Lapland Bunting.
A further 13 Yellow-browed Warbler were discovered throughout the day (bring the day total to 18, a new record) 2 were at Ravenscar, 2 were by Scalby Lodge, 3 were on Castle Hill, 2 were on the Crescent, 1 was in the Italian Gardens, 2 were by the Clock Tower on South Cliff and 1 was in Cayton Bay.
Other migrants noted elsewhere included Willow Warblers at Scalby Lodge and on the Crescent, a Whinchat and a Wheatear at Scalby Lodge Pond and 3 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap and a Spotted Flycatcher were on Castle Hill.
In Jackson’s Bay there were 79 Oystercatcher, 4 Bar-tailed Godwit, 12 Redshank and a Kingfisher.
