A Great Northern Diver was seen off Holbeck this morning, having been seen in the harbour earlier. 4 male Goosanders were at Throxenby Mere, and a Bittern was spotted flying over Crossgates in the afternoon. 5 Little Grebe, a drake Gadwall, 19 Tufted Duck, 7 Goldeneye, 2 Coot and 2 Water Rails were at Seamer Road Mere, and a Dipper was in Cow Wath Beck, Scalby. A Little Egret and a Stonechat were at Thornton Carrs, a Barn Owl was was at Upper Cornbrash on the north side of Castle Hill and another was seen at Yedingham. A Great Northern Diver was again seen in South Bay in the afternoon, while 6 more were in Cayton Bay along with the Slavonian Grebe, a Red-throated Diver and a female Eider, while Gannets were seen on the move. At Scalby Mills there were 28 Redshank.
