Four juvenile Caspian Gulls were reported along the coast today; two attending crab boats off Long Nab, one off Cornelian Bay, and one at Scalby Mills. The drake Eider was feeding below Long Nab Bird Observatory, 2 Whimbrel and a Merlin flew south, 2 Little Egrets flew north. A Little Egret again at Johnson's Marsh, where a Hobby flew over at midday. At Potter Brompton Carr; 3 Great White Egrets, 12 Little Egrets, 3 Ruff, 5 Redshank, 4 Greenshank, 5 Green Sandpipers, 2 Marsh Harriers, and 54 Teal. A pair of Little Grebes feeding two young at Brompton Ponds. A Peregrine at Castle Cliffs where the Kittiwakes have now vacated their ledges, leaving just one Fulmar. Two Ravens were at Langdale End. At Gristhorpe Bay early morning; 193 Oystercatchers, Bar-tailed Godwit, 7 Knot, 2 Ringed Plovers, Whimbrel, Little Egret, 20 Teal. An increase in warblers; 13 Willow Warblers, 9 Chiffchaffs, 6 Whitethroats, Lesser Whitethroat, Sedge and Reed Warblers. Nine Yellow Wagtails and a Merlin.
