Saturday 4th January

 Lots of news today on our Whatsapp group, here's just a few of the highlights. A Whimbrel with Curlews at Scalby Lodge was a surprise winter find! In Cloughton Woods; 2 Goshawks, 2 Woodcocks, 10+ Crossbills, 3 Redpolls, 60 Redwing. Five Golden Plover flew south at Long Nab. Two Gadwall at Cloughton Pond. Six Pink-footed Geese at Salt Pans Lane, Cloughton. 260 Curlews and 3000 Starlings at Cayton Carr. Two Great Northern Divers at the harbour, 5 Shags off Marine Drive. Three Brambling along Long Causeway Road. Five Russian White-fronted Geese with the greylag flock at Wykeham Lakes, also one Egyptian Goose, one Whooper Swan,  and a Green Sandpiper flew NE. The Red-necked Grebe still at Wykeham East Lake, 2 Goosanders flew over. Two Short-eared Owls, Marsh Harrier, Great White Egret, 3 Egyptian Geese, 2 Little Egret, 2 Shovelers Potter Brompton Carr. Goosander, 2 Goldeneye, 2 Pochard, 5 Gadwall, 5 Little Grebes at Seamer Road Mere. 16 Ringed Plovers (14 Scalby Mills + 2 Jackson's Bay).
