Tuesday 7th January

 The Hawfinch was still in the mixed finch flock frequenting a cover crop at Ellerburn Bank, Dalby Forest. Also there were 41+ Brambling, 80+ Chaffinches and a Goshawk. The five Eurasian White-fronted Geese appeared again with Greylags at Wykeham Watersports Lake. Also there were the immature Whooper Swan,  4 Egyptian Geese, 2 Shelduck, 32 Wigeon, 6 Shoveler, a drake Pochard, 12 Goldeneye, 40 Pink-footed Geese (flew SE), and a Water Rail. Two Great Northern Divers in the inner harbour, 10 Turnstones on West Pier. A drake Goosander at Peasholm Park, plus a redhead at Seamer Road Mere. 33 Gadwall at Brompton Ponds, a Little Owl at nearby Snainton. 28 Siskins at Burniston. A female Blackcap in a Cayton garden. Kingfisher again at the Open Air Theatre. A ringtail Hen Harrier at Low Moor, Fylingdales Moor late morning. Eight Pink-footed Geese with feral geese at Seamer Mead, Barn Owl near the tip. A Kingfisher at Burton Riggs. A Water Rail at Woodlands Ravine pond. Kingfisher and Dipper at Thornton-le-Dale. 200 Linnets between the village and Howl Dale. 10 Crossbills at the Raptor Viewpoint car park, Wykeham Forest. Harwood Dale Forest: Crossbill, Marsh Tit, 12 Fieldfare, 28 Redwing, 2 Mistle Thrush. Three Mandarins, 2 Little Grebes, 2 Gadwall Hackness Lake.
