Monday 18th October

16 Whooper Swans flew south at Long Nab this morning (spotted later passing Hunmanby Gap), and were followed later in the morning by another 11 (seen again passing Marine Drive). 19 Moorhens were at the small pond near Seamer Tip bridge, while 9 Redwings and 2 Song Thrushes were in the hedge south of Seamer Tip pool. 120+ Siskins were seen near Wrench Green. 9 Redwings flew west over Burniston and 7 south-west over East Ayton. At Wykeham Lakes there was a Whooper Swan, 192 Teal, 46 Wigeon, 82 Mallard, a Pochard, 2 Goldeneye, 2 Water Rails, 139 Coot, 2 Jack Snipe, a House Martin and 39 Siskins. A Dark-bellied Brent Goose flew north past Long Nab, a Jay flew south, and 21 Redwings flew south/south-west. An Eider was again at Scalby Mills.
