A Greenshank was at Johnson’s Marsh this morning; a juvenile
Shelduck, 13 Mandarins and 2 Teal were at Harwood Dale Lake; and 3 Turtle Doves
were by the Mill Inn. 5 Gannets were seen diving in North Bay. At Wykeham Lakes
there were 509 Greylags, 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls (1 a juvenile), Greenshank, Common Sandpiper, a Marsh
Harrier, and 15 Black-tailed Godwits circled the East Lake before flying off
southwards. This afternoon a Hobby was seen over Wykeham South Lake, and a
Marsh Harrier was seen from Flixton Bridge sitting on a fence amongst cattle.
Highlights from Long Nab include 8 Golden Plover and a Snipe in off the sea; 7
Turnstones, a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull and 674 Swifts flying south; and a
second summer Mediterranean Gull flying north. In Cornelian Bay there were 12
Curlew, a Dunlin, a Common Sandpiper, 73 Sandwich Terns (24 of them juveniles),
an adult Lesser Black-backed Gull and 2 Mediterranean Gulls (an adult and a
juvenile). A Red Kite was spotted over Silpho.
