40+ Long-tailed Tits and a Chiffchaff were in Manor Road Park this morning, and a total of 5 Willow Tits were in the area south of Wrench Green. The 3 Brent Geese were still at Scalby Mills by mid-afternoon along with 30 Wigeon, while 2 Stonechats and 12 Goldfinches were at Scalby Nab but there was no sign of yesterday's Red-backed Shrike. A Yellow-browed Warbler was seen at the far end of the jet ski lake at Seamer Road, while also around the complex were 6+ Chiffchaffs, a Wigeon and a Water Rail. Yellow-browed Warblers were also at Salt Pans Road in Cloughton, at the Long Nab ringing plantation, by the entrance to the castle, at Wykeham Lakes in the car park area, at Boggle Hole, and on South Cliff where 2 were in the Italian Gardens area and another was in the ravine to the north of the Holbeck landslip. Also at South Cliff a Snow Bunting arrived in off the sea and flew north . At Johnson's Marsh there were 55 Teal and a Great White Egret, which then moved to Scalby Mills in the mid-afternoon. A Long-eared Owl was at Crook Ness late this afternoon, last seen at the car park end of the north bank. A Nuthatch was caching acorns in the gabion wall at Plaxton Court, Chiffchaffs were calling on Woodlands Drive, and a Jay and a Bullfinch were on the north boundary of the cemetery.
