The two Great Northern Divers and the juvenile Black throated Diver were again in the harbour this morning and a Kingfisher was on the rock armour on Marine Drive. 11 Little Gull flew south past Marine Drive and a Great Northern Diver flew north. A Little Gull was blogging off Scalby Ness. A Velvet Scoter and a Long-tailed Duck flew south at South Cliff and a Great Skua and a Manx Shearwater flew north. Three Goshawks (2m, 1f), two Raven and two Common Buzzard were at Low North Camp. Five Water Rails and a Brambling were along the Dell, Eastfield. Highlights from the monthly WeBS core count at North Yorkshire Water Park were 15 Goldeneye, seven Little Grebe, seven Great Crested Grebe and an adult winter Mediterranean Gull. Additional sightings were two Stonechat, 17 Lesser Redpoll and 20 Siskin. Waxwing sightings today; 23+ in tall trees at western end of Station Road, Crossgates (turn off to Seamer railway station), 20+ in Newby and 9 in trees fronting Greenfinch Close, Crossgates.
