Monday 6th November

 Three Waxwing flocks in the district today. 20 around the Hovingham Drive area this morning but mobile, 20+ in the Beck Hole area of Cayton, and 6 at Greylands Park Drive. A male Blackcap in the coastal gullies at Scalby Lodge, also a male Merlin flew in off the sea near Scalby Mills.  One Purple Sandpiper on East Pier at high tide. An adult male Hen Harrier moved SW through Long Nab after hunting a short while. Also 7 Whooper Swans south, 4 Twite over, and a Snow Bunting flew north. A Goosander, Goldeneye, 6 Little Grebes, and 2 Kingfishers at Seamer Road Mere. At Potter Brompton Carr; Cetti's Warbler, Chiffchaff, 1150 Fieldfare, 320 Starling, Stonechat, Water Rail, 3 Great White Egrets, 7 Little Egrets, 2 Marsh Harriers, 92 Teal, 7 Gadwall, 3 Wigeon, Shelduck, 20 Snipe, Kingfisher, and 114 Pink-footed Geese (over).
