Early this morning a Wryneck was spotted in a clump of willows just south of the Holbeck car park. Other migrants along South Cliff included 2 Blackcaps, 8 Chiffchaffs, a Willow Warbler, a Yellow-browed Warbler, 13 Goldcrests, 61 Robins, 3 Redwings and 6 Song Thrushes. A Whitethroat, a Yellow-browed Warbler, a Chiffchaff and 15+ Robins were seen at Sycarham Woods, while a Redstart, a Garden Warbler and a Chiffchaff were in a copse south of Newlands Road, Cloughton. A Short-eared Owl flew in off the sea at Ravenscar. Also in the Bent Rigg area were 3 Chiffchaffs, 4 Goldcrests, about 20 Song Thrushes, 15 Redwings, a Brambling and 10 Siskins, while 30 Crossbills flew north. A Chiffchaff was in Heron Lane gardens, 2 Greenshank were at Wykeham Lakes, and 75 Pink-footed Geese flew south over Cayton Bay. Highlights at Long Nab included 6 Blackcaps, 6 Chiffchaffs, 55 Goldcrests, 70 Robins, 10 Bramblings, 8 Redwings, 8 Song Thrushes, 6 Swallows and 120 Starlings. 6 Sandwich Terns were on the rocks at Scalby Mills this afternoon, 120+ Pink-footed Geese flew south over Hoxton Road, and at Scarborough Bowls Club there were 10 Robins, a Chiffchaff, 12 Blackbirds and a Sparrowhawk.
