A Bittern, only the 14th
Scarborough record, was watched flying northwest over the University along
Filey Road at 10.44hrs – the first good migrant of spring and hopefully the
first of many to come!
Elsewhere a Merlin, 6 Snipe, 14 Shoveler, 7 Gadwall, 10 Wigeon, a Pink-footed Goose, 60 Fieldfare and 20 Redwing were on Potter Brompton Carr (no general access), 19 Whooper Swan remained on Sherburn Ings, 18 Redwing were at Haybridge Farm, a Water Rail and a Kingfisher were at the Mere, the American Wigeon was still at Scalby Mills and a Mediterranean Gull was at Holbeck.
