The majority of today’s news
came from Wykeham South Lake where the Red-necked
Grebe was present for another day and was attracting quite a few admirers
during its protracted stay. Also on the lake today 3 Little Grebes, 7 Great
Crested Grebes, a Whooper Swan and 2♂2♀ Goldeneye, 35 Pink-footed Geese were in
the stubble field with the hay bales and another 200+ were in one of the fields
to the right of the approach road with a probable Bar-headed Goose.
At other locations today the
reports included 2 Barnacle Geese at The Mere; 2 juvenile Whooper Swans, 5
Gadwall, a Teal and a Shoveler at Seamer Tip Pool and at Cornelian Ravine a
Goldcrest, a Blackcap, 2 Redpoll sp., 4 Brambling and 20+ Goldfinches.
