Sunday 23rd January
A Mute Swan was seen on the sea in North Bay before it flew south round the headland. A Treecreeper and a Dipper were seen in Peasholm Glen and a Mediterranean Gull at Peasholm Lake. At Seamer Road Mere there were 2 Water Rails, 11 Little Grebes, a drake Goosander, a Teal, 3 Gadwall, 61 Tufted Duck, 88 Moorhen and 79 Coot. A female Merlin was hunting on Cayton Carr north-west of the sewage works, and a Great Northern Diver, 2 Red-throated Divers and 2 Stonechats were in Cayton Bay. 8 Long-tailed Tits were on a feeder in Hutton Buscel and 23 Goldfinch were seen from Middle Lane.
