Tuesday 4th May

A Long-eared Owl flew in off the sea at Long Nab this morning, where there were 2 Snipe, a Wheatear and a Lesser Whitethroat. A Lesser Whitethroat was also seen at Burton Riggs, another was near Seamer Tip pool and a third near Seamer Station. A Little Egret flew south over Seamer Tip poool where there were 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. At Wykeham Lakes there were 3 Wigeon, a Goldeneye, a Little Ringed Plover, a Dunlin, 6 Common Sandpipers, 2 Wheatear, 2 Yellow Wagtails, a White Wagtail, 90 Common Gulls and 4 Little Grebes. A male Brambling was again on the feeders at Long Causeway. Four flocks of Arctic Terns were sound recorded over Crossgates last night.
