Tuesday 15th February

3 Eider and 3 Common Scoter flew south past Long Nab this morning, and 3 Greenfinch were in a garden in Burniston. 3 Corn Buntings and 15 Yellowhammers were in a flock of about 50 finches and buntings in fields at the side of Black Dike, Seamer Tip, where also present were 3 Little Egrets. 7 Little Egrets were just south of Folkton sewage works, a Dipper was in Peasholm Glen, 2 Great Northern Divers were in the harbour, and a Green Sandpiper was at Charity Farm, Thornton Carrs. Highlighhts of a WeBS count at Scarborough Mere included 2 Water Rails, 10 Little Grebe, 56 Tufted Duck, 4 Gadwall, 69 Moorhen and 58 Coot. A Common Buzzard and 8 Yellowhammers were seen at Great Moor Road, and a female Sparrowhawk was spotted carrying prey at Middle Lane. Another Sparrowhawk was observed chasing Woodpigeons in a garden near Scalby Mills Golf Course.
