Wednesday 23rd February

A big movement of Pink-footed Geese northward today in clear conditions; 1450 past Long Nab, 77 north over Wykeham Lakes and 200 north over Ebberston. One Great Northern Diver in the harbour. At least four Mediterranean Gulls at Holbeck car park. The two Short-eared Owls were still around Seamer tip pool, over the rough ground immediately north and east of the pool. Also drake Shoveler there. Three Common Crossbills were at Bridestones (Dalby Forest). At Wykeham Lakes there were 5 Goldeneye and a Pink-footed Goose still. The Cattle Egret has unfortunately been found dead in the Carrs east of Seamer Tip. 42 Curlews were in the field north of Cromer Point. 175 Redshank were in the high tide roost at Gristhorpe Bay, also two pairs of Stonechats.
