Monday 23rd May

There was no news either way on the male Red-backed Shrike reported yesterday from the May Beck area. A female Northern Wheatear was on the east pier at the Harbour this morning and a Whooper Swan and one Little Ringed Plover were at Wykeham East Lake and 2 Common Terns were at Wykeham South Lake (Water Park). In the Newclose Rigg area of Dalby Forest, there were 6 Turtle Doves, single Green Woodpecker, Northern Goshawk and Willow Tit, 4 Garden Warblers and 4 Common Crossbills. A Little Owl was at Saltpans Road, Cloughton and a Lesser Whitethroat was singing at Wrench Green by the bridge for it's second day. Dippers were feeding recently fledged young at Troutsdale and Cuckoos were calling at Fylingdales Moor, Crosscliffe in Dalby Forest and Low North Camp which also hosted 3 Spotted Flycatchers and Great Spotted Woodpecker. 3 Mandarin Ducks were at Harwood Dale Lake.
