Monday 6th March

 A male and female Goosander, 20 Siskin, four Lesser Redpoll, one Common (Mealy) Redpoll and two Lesser Black-backed Gulls were at Burton Riggs this morning. A Red-throated Diver was in the harbour and six Little Egrets were behind Folkton sewage Works. At the Water Sports Lake at North Yorkshire Water Park there were 18 Goldeneye, four Great crested Grebes, 17 Gadwall, six Teal, a male Goosander and 15 Siskin. A Short-eared Owl and approximately 20 Whooper Swans were at Long Causeway Road, Wykeham and an adult Mediterranean Gull was at Scalby Mills. The Polish ringed adult Mediterranean Gull bearing ring number PNN5 flew over Crossgates today. This bird was ringed as an adult male on 17.5.2013 at a nesting site and has been seen every subsequent winter in Scarborough since 2013/2014. The bird is at least 12 years old.
