The suspected presence of two Great Egrets in the area was confirmed this morning when two flew east together over Ruston Carr. A Sparrowhawk flew over the Council yard in Dean Road and 13 Siskins briefly visited a Burniston garden before flying off north. A male and female Goosander, eight Siskin and a Lesser Redpoll were at Burton Riggs from where there was an unconfirmed report of a Bittern this morning. 11 Gadwall, three Goldeneye and a Kingfisher were at the North Yorkshire Water Park ( Water Sports Lake) and a Short-eared Owl was frequenting fence posts along Long Causeway Road, Wykeham. A Water Rail was again seen near the metal gate at the feeding area. The long staying Whooper Swan was at Seamer Road Mere.
